255/70 R15 Help

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me determine the diameter of the wheel/tire combo of a 255/70R15 mounted on a 15 x 8 rim. I have a set of rally's that I want to run on a stock height C-10 Short Stepside and I am thinking of going with that size tire. Could someone running this combo measure their tire and let me know? It would be nice to have a feel for how it will compare to what I'm running now before I make the tire investment.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

I have the same tires on my truck and the height is 29.4 inches. They should work well and fill out your wheelwells real nice on your stock height truck.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

Dad and I built this truck a while back ..

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=457529&page=3

Post #66. That's how it would look, .. 255/70/15 on an 8" steelie, should be the same backspacing and fit the same on your 69. We had 4" drop springs in this truck. ~3" drop in the front, 235/70/15. It sat pretty good, .. I miss this old truck.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

Thanks for the pictures. Your trucks look great with the tire wheel combo, looks like a winner. I will post pictures of before and after when I get them. It will be a little bit since I have to finish sand blasting three more rims and it's getting cold here in upstate NY. I have the rings and centers all ready to go.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

Here's an image of the one rim I have done. I might want to go with a darker paint color for more contrast. I can't wait to see them on the truck.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

Should have bought from Direct Tire on Cyber Monday. They had 255/70r15 Cooper Cobra Radials for $398 shipped. Today they are up around $500 again. Uggh. Xmas stopped me.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

255 x .7 = 178.5
178.5 X 2 = 357
357 ÷ 25.4 = 14
14 + 15 = 29

29 inch (approx) diameter

This is two sidewalls added to 15 in. wheel to get tire diameter.

Re: 255/70 R15 Help

Here's a great place to compare tire sizes. I used them when I went hunting the right size snow tires for my truck.
