locked up 216 worth anything?

anything worth saving off this thing? thing is locked up solid, had a bunch of water in it too when i drained the oil, same thing with the manual transmission although the trans does shift around ok

so naturally going to scrap this thing and throw in a v8 but is there a market for anything off this motor? intake, valve cover, oil pan? i was thinking of making a bird bath out of the transmission

Re: locked up 216 worth anything?

The manifolds may be worth something if they aren't cracked as a lot of the exhaust flanges get damaged on old rigs. Same with the tin if it isn't rusted out or bent up. Someone is always looking for something better than what they have in that respect. Not a lot of value so it depends on if you have space to store it or patience to deal with it. If you plan to sell at a swapmeet that might be some swapmeet stuff that you can get a couple of bucks out of to turn around and spend. I used to go to swap meets with just enough cash to pay for my space and not much more and sell off enough extra parts to pay for what I bought, buy something to eat and have a few bucks in my pocket when I left. Never got rich but what I sold paid for what I bought.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

if you find someone to buy them let me know, I was going to start planting them in concentric circles and see if I could influence the tidal pull of the moon.

you may be on to something, if its never been done it might actually work

i bet the valve cover would make a good flower pot on the shed though, the wife loves hanging old rusty stuff all over the place. i guess i can save everything off the block and throw it up in the garage attic with the tons of other crap i dont want to get rid of but will never use

i should plop the old engine block out in front of the house a few days before garbage day and watch the scrapers fight to get that thing into their truck

I will second this.

I actually had 2, 235's with the sought after 848 heads. Never could find a buyer.

I ended up giving them away.

It's intersting how some stuff is justnot wanted you would think someone somewhere wants that stuff. I had a heck of a time getting rid of a np203 transfercase and dana70 axle like 10 years ago. Got 10 bucks finally for both, could have scrapped them for more but was just happy tosee someone actually use the stuff

Re: locked up 216 worth anything?

The folk's that were interested in the 235's... Well let's say they threw money around like they were manhole covers.

I wasn't asking much for them.

Considering GM stopped using them in '62, I figured they would open their wallets up a little more readily.

Well, when it comes to will power, I guess I lost.
