Question Tilt Front end

Questions about tilt front ends.
I have not seen any of these installed and was wondering about the inside fender wells.
Can these be used with the fiberglass nose?
If so, can they attached to the tilt nose or do they remain attached to the chassis?
What are the options?

No on the tilt front ends we offer the stock inner fenders will not work unless you fabricate a slide forward hinge so they clear the firewall when tilting.

Thanks for the info Ed.
How would they be attached to the fiberglass?
Got any pictures of an installed open doghouse?

I had a tilt nose on a 55 T-bird, and it had inner frender wells.
The thing had an inside release that would pop the entire nose up in the front like a hood. Then I would pull the nose forward and tilt it up. I had to fabricate two sliders for each side with little wheels from home sliding door hardware.
I got the idea from a bug eye sprite that I had. It was not very hard to do.

Sounds like a neat system Scott.
I would like to see some pics rather than re-inventing the wheel, to see if this is an option for me.
The way I see it is it would need a track/groove at the firewall to lock in the back end of the assembly and need either some type of dropped rail or spring loaded release at the front.
Also pondering how to get it to clear the bumper before sliding foward.

Any thoughts, pics or insight is appreciated

I tried to draw it out but I am no artist. There was a heavy flat strap bolted to each side of the frame then when released the front end would pop up and forward. then the lower part of the strap metal would hit a bolt welded on the frame as a stop. This would get it up and away from the front bumper. Then you could tilt the nose.

I was just thinking that the soft top cover on my Allante works that way. I will take pictures!

Thumbs up

Scott,
Thanks for taking the time to do the sketch.
I completely understand what you are showing me and that is allot simpler than what I was envisioning!

I will look forward to the pics of the Allante.
