69-70 AC 8 Track Tape

This is a Promotional 8 Track tape for AC I recently purchased. Dont see this particular tape often. This 8 track tape was sent to AC super retailers before merger with Delco in 1975. This was a form of marketing to the stores that promoted AC products. I think it is 69-70 years

That is cool, how times have changed. I got an iPod with enough music to listen to for several days. I used to hate how you'd be in the middle of "Dark Side of the Moon" and the tape would click! Vey nice find.

Man you make me feel like a kid. My mom said that her 8 track in her Firebird automatically continued thru the song on the B side. F-A-N-C-Y.

You may not get this joke, but iPods were first coming out when I was a Freshman in high school--they were called iPod Shuffles and held about 25-40 songs and didn't have a screen. You couldn't select the song you wanted to listen to( hence the name shuffle)
By the time I graduated the new popular thing were modern iPods that could play videos, held thousands of songs, and the brand new iPhone was just released.

Anyways, my friends who had modern iPods would lament the days when they had to clean off and upload new music every day because their old iPods only held 30 songs; and we'd all roll our eyes at how archaic that was....

You "experienced" dudes had it ROUGH.

I had this Clarion cassette "hidden" in the glovebox of my Pontiac. It powered two Jensen 6x9 triaxial speakers. I thought this combo was the bomb. Couldn't afford to see VH because gas was so darn expensive! Times were rough for sure.

I still remember the break in the middle of a beautiful guitar solo on Southside City Midnight Lady by the Doobie Brothers... it seemed like a crime.

Your timeline isn't right. The first Ipod to come out was 20 gigs had a screen & a clickwheel. It was just called Ipod, later after they introduced other models then it became known as the Ipod classic & eventually was 120gigs

Whoooooooshhhhh.............................. right over my head.

Yuccales, you had an early cassette too, ey? I remember back in the 8-track days it seemed I was the only guy with cassette. Turns out I was ahead of the times with that. Thing is, other than one truck I put a CD player in, I'm still there! I still record cassettes. A buddy bought me a home component cassette recorder/player at a yard sale for $5, like new.

Re: 69-70 AC 8 Track Tape

I looked up a couple of those artists from the tape shown. Instrumental versions of those hit songs. Sweet lol.

I had a Pioneer Super Tuner 8 track, Jenson Tri Axels, couple of smaller round Pioneer speakers, and some sort of amp. Put it all in my 63 Nova. Back in the day this was a pretty good setup and when we went cruising it was defiantly cranked ... BTO .. Frampton .. Boston ... Aerosmith ... Bachman Turner .. Nugent .. on and on, all on glorious 8 track. I was late to the cassette party. What was I supposed to do, get rid of all the 8 tracks and start over? This set up in my car was the first thing I ever bought on payments from a store, I couldnt afford to start over.

Re: 69-70 AC 8 Track Tape

Oh yeah! The first Supertuners before any in-dash aftermarket. My cassette was made by Ampex. It was 25w. It had a slide-out tray on the bottom that would hold 4 cassettes and the mic. That's right, it had record mode. You could also sing with the music. Ampex only made consumer products a short while. The speakers were Eutaw or Altec, also real uncommon. I bought it all at this place "House of Sound" that was the serious stereo shop in the region.

That was bad enough (along with the “South City Midnight Lady” break)…what was worse was the tape breaking and getting wadded up in the player….

Yes you are factually correct, but we were 14 year old kids living in broken homes. The best money could buy was the first shuffles.

I had a 72 Catalina in HS like that, blue with a black vinyl top and plush cloth interior. That thing rode like a Caddy.

It really did ride nice. For a giant boat it handled the turns pretty good also.
