Re: Electric rear window

Has anyone ever thought of using an assembly from say a sun roof, that pulls the glass down (or in this case into the cab and away from the window opening) then slids it down. I have a small window cab and have thinking of this for several years. This way the window would still be flush with the outside sheet metal when up. I don't know if the sun roof assembly would be heavy duty enough or not. Just a thought. I don't know if I would have the skills enough to pull it off.

Re: Electric rear window

73 up blazers and burbs had electric rear windows in the tailgates... i had one, and dissected it to study the internals for years i have been thinking of how to pull this off.

Re: Electric rear window

I have fabricated a "Pop Out" rear window for my 68 chopped cab. It is not installed yet, or the truck completed, but the glass was custom cut, the holes drilled in it and then tempered for hardness. I have a set of side window hinges and latches from an astor van, so it can pop out at the bottom and let air into the cab. The window will seal against a rubber seal mounted on the cab bead.
