Fell in love with a 1967 GMC stepside

I fell in love with a 1967 GMC stepside pickup yesterday,an auto salvage yard in my area had it.Was waiting for a couple parts and I decided to check it out.Opened the hood up,a 350 under the hood with an edelbrock carb and air cleaner.Plus I seen the key was in it.I know the owner very well, asked him how much and if it ran.Saw I was very interested in it and gave me a deal on it.Said it ran a couple years ago,$500.00 if it didn't start up and $600.00 if it started up.I turned the key,ran like a watch, paid the $600.00 for it.Said he would deliver it to my place on Monday. The box is gone,4 small size trees are holding it up around the rear end.Going to have his brother come over and cut these trees down to get it out on Sunday.I did get the title and will be a future project starting in October.Plans are to refresh the 350 in it.Plus I know where to get a box for it.Not a whole bunch of rust on it,only surface rust and the floor is solid.

That's great. One of my favorites. I still may go with that bed on mine. Now let me set you straight, since it's now yours. What you found and bought is a '67 GMC Fenderside. Stepsides are Chevys and I'm sure you'll want to be calling your truck by it's correct name so people can tell you know a thing or two about it. If you want to call a Dodge or a Ford a Stepside that's ok

I know that and saw it had my name all over it.I just hit the key once and turned over,no knocking at all.I was happy hearing it run and know what I got for an engine that runs good.a friend of mine buys and sells truck boxes, said he has one for this one coming in.He only wants $300.00 for it and told him I will take it since it is rust free

No pictures yet, will get to that.Had no camera with me.It is black and looks like someone painted it with spray cans.It is going to be stripped down and the old paint blasted away.I have a newer GM color that I like from 2014

Sounds like you got a gem. That's how it all starts, anxious to see the pictures also.

Re: Fell in love with a 1967 GMC stepside

I always wanted one.Looked at others and saw it would take too much money to fix them up.One was too far from fixing, rusted out so bad and the seller wanted too much money for it.Transmission actually works too.The owner said the guy he got it from had the transmission rebuilt 3 years ago.I found the receipt for that and the fluid was clean.
