1962 SWB Advice

Looking for a lil advice, I have a 62 SWB, the whole torsion bar setup, drums all the way around, a mickey moused transmission mount done by the previous owner. It is hard to find parts down here in El Paso. So first thing first is to stop this beast, no more drums up front looking to do a front disk setup. Any advice or a reputable source were I can buy it and not have to worry about being taken for a ride. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1476238718

Re: 1962 SWB Advice

Welcome to the site, first things first you need to know going into this project that 62 is an odd-ball year (that much I do know), but what I don't know is much about their design differences from a 64-66. I have a 1966 k10, and my build is 1966 k10 Shortbed Build, and I know more about the late model trucks than I do about 60-63. What I would recommend doing is what many very smart individuals on this forum told me to, go to dansclassic.com, sign up, put the make model and year in for your truck, and just type in "brakes" or "brake" (without quotation marks) and see what comes up. If that doesn't work type in "suspension" and a whole aftermarket suspension, and disk brake setup should appear. I just ordered shackles from them and I have been nothing but happy. Good luck on your build, it looks like its going to be a cool one!

Re: 1962 SWB Advice

Welcome. There are options for this though a game plan is recommended. As the frame and supension is all a short lived platform from gm. You will find what alot of us have done on these 60-63 in this forum. You can check in my build in recent past for ideas.,THE SNORTIN' BULL
