Auxiliary Door Seals

Do any of you guys have the factory auxiliary door seals on your trucks? These are the seals that glue to the door over the window area. If you do I'd like a picture. I have some for my truck but I want to make sure of the location before I glue them in.

Thanks!

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

I was doing some research on auxiliary upper door seals on placement and orientation.

Thank you for taking these pictures.

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

According to LMC 79-81 but I've seen them added to many of the 73-87s

Another catalog indicates 73-77 and 78-81 with different part numbers.

I have an air leak that I cannot get rid of if the wind is blowing at the right angle. I believe this will solve that problem. I already have all new weatherstripping EVERYWHERE else and doors are adjusted properly.

I have the same problem, only on the passenger side. Report back with us if this fixes the problem.

Passenger side for me too. Guess we'll see whenever I get to it. So much to do and so little time.

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

I got some for my 86, just never have gotten around to installing them. The idea of using that glue kind of turns me off to doing it. It would just be my luck to get that sticky sh!t on something I don't want it on, and then have a mess to clean.

That's my hold back too. Gotta have time to be patient enough to do it. If I could use 3m tape I would be happier but was told it would make it too tall.

I saved this video, in hopes when I do get around to it.

The vent windows are where most of my air leaks were from.

Same here and after getting the vent windows rebuilt from Precision, the air leaks are pretty much non-existent. I think, and I'm sure it safe to speak for UKNOWME also, we are just a bit anal about the least little bit of air noise. So if adding this seal helps, then why not?

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

Thought I'd update this thread. I'd been searching for a while on installing these and no one seemed to have pictures of the leading edge. However I'm pretty sure I figured it out. If not it sure fits well like this! Haha Anyways, just thought I'd share. I got these from LMC and I was worried they would make the door harder to shut, however they didn't effect the closing at all. And the lip kisses up nice and tight against the body with where I've got my doors placed. Over all super happy at the moment! I'll report back after driving if they make a difference. I already redid my wing windows so I was just trying to see how quiet I could get this thing.

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

Yeah looks good. Well,if it didn't take you that long, then I need to quit procrastinating and get mine done too. Thanks for posting the pics and updating the thread for others that are in need of help.
Waiting to hear about the changes in the wind noise, if it helped. It certainly can't hurt.

Re: Auxiliary Door Seals

Yeah only took me about 20 minutes to do them. I did cut off the mounting in the rear and I couldn't figure out how that was supposed to screw in, and I didn't see 1 picture of another one with that mount. So, I just cut it off. Next thing I'm doing is adding some rain papers to the door before I put the panels back on. Every time I was driving past an 18 wheeler I would get puffs of air through the door and into the interior. And being in the desert every time that happens it introduces HOT air into the cab that the AC must remove again. So, I'm hoping these papers slow the air intrusion.

I've always had good luck using dollar store shower curtains cut to size and stuck on with strip caulk from a hardware store. Might want to add some thin insulation between the plastic and door panels.
THANKS! to the OP and the video from phillipm for the 3M info.
