1969 Chevy short stepside

This is my 69 C10 build. I had pictures of the truck when i first got it and the complete tear down but I lost them all. I got the truck 3 years ago and I traded a 84 Chevy short wide for it. Here is a few pics of the truck tore down.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Here is some pics of the front end. It was pretty bad. I bought a disc brake conversion kit and a 4/6 drop kit and the 5lug rear axle kit from Early classic Enterprises.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I completely disassembled the front end. Removed all the upper and lower control arm bushings, tie rod ends, steering box pit-man and idler arms. I also cleaned the grease off the control arms.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I got everything removed from the front end and cleaned the frame and painted it. I took the cross member off and cleaned it all up and painted it and then re-installed it.

Thanks Dustmaker. These trucks are defiantly a process and not a fast one.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I really wish I hadnt lost all of the pictures of the truck. I had documented everything from the day I drove it home to complete tear down.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Today I also got the rear end dropped and taken apart. I need to put in the 5 lug axles and then put my drop kit on the back.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

My front end does not have wheels on it because I bought a set of 5 lug rallye wheels but they are for drum brakes not disc. Back to the drawing board.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Today I pulled off the trailing arms and started cleaning them up. I also took the donor cab pieces and reshaped the lips and grinded everything down and then buffed off the rust. Im going to seal the back sides of everything with a rust encapsulator then I will be ready to start putting my cab back together.

The last couple nights I have been working on my donor parts. I used some Eastwood rust converter and some encapsulator which worked really good.
