60 Burb Radiator

So I decided to get the radiator repaired as it has a leak. To get it completely done the shop wants $500. Some of the replacement ones seem to run between $380 -450. I am thinking that it would probably be better to get the original fixed and keep it original ...any input ?

Re: 60 Burb Radiator

If you can get a good quality radiator for the $380-450, I would go that route rather than messing with the old radiator.

Re: 60 Burb Radiator

I paid $380 to get my old one redone, about the same price as a new aluminum one. I've heard it's not easy to repair aluminum ones and I don't think they last as long.

Re: 60 Burb Radiator & Hoses

I bought an aftermarket radiator. Not thrilled that it is a chrome one, will probably work on a color change at some point. I thought I would post some info on this thread for future searchers looking for hose information.

The aftermarket radiator had a smaller diameter lower hose nipple on it which required a hose with different sizes on each end.

Spent a lot of time searching for the correct ones on both the upper and lower hoses since I did not want a "ribbed" generic type hose. I found one that would work at Merles Auto/NAPA Auto (same company now)

The bottom was next to impossible to find, but after having a helpful counter guy show me many hoses that I picked from their catalog, I found a bigger longer lower hose that had the two different sizes that I needed due to the new radiator.

I had to cut the bottom hose to fit as it was way too long and had two many curves, but it had the perfect length and curves built into the overall length of the hose so I cut the hose to fit my need and the rest of the curves and stuff was cut off and tossed.

The top Hose: Dayco 70344

The Bottom Hose: Dayco 72033
