Starting a Registry for BB trucks!

I am in the process of picking up another big block 67-72 truck. According to my truck books only about 4-8% of trucks each year were big blocks. So I got to wondering how many of those were 1/2 ton versus 3/4 ton, short bed vs. longbed, etc.. I was also curious as to how many still exist, and what other options they had.

To answer these questions I decided I would like to start a registry. If anyone would like to contribute information on their ride I will add it to the list. You can post the information here or PM me and I will keep the VIN private (you can block out the last two or three digits of the VIN if you want also). Below is a list of the things I will need in order to add your vehicle to the registry. We may add more requests if anyone thinks of more important questions to ask; but the SPID and a brief description on current status should answer most questions.

This Registry is open to all Suburbans as well!

To add to registry send:
1. Picture of the SPID.
2. Picture of vehicle and or door VIN plate (Optional)
3. Description if the vehicle, still alive, customized, bieng parted, or already dead and gone.

As I collect the data I will put it all into a log book, and after a while we should start bieng able to answer questions about these trucks that many of us may have.

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!

I will add a few more. The first one is the only speedwarning i have seen in a 69. I know it was available, but haven't seen one before in 69. This truck is still around. (barely)
Second 2, i don't know if they are still "alive"
Not sure what option "O" is...

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!

Thanks for the addition Muleman! So far we only have 6 trucks documented but the ones we have dont look like they were hurting for options. So far big block trucks average 19.8 options. The more trucks we get the more questions we can asnwer for enthusiasts down the road; and the more accurate our answers will be!

Basemodel67, I will check it next time I get out to my dads!

68350, Thanks for all the additions! Is there anyway I could get at least a partial VIN on the 70 GMC and the 72 Cheyenne C-20? Thanks either way.

Dieselwrencher, Post it up!!

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!

I'm slowly getting them all recorded. Thanks everybody!

Here's the SPID on my newest acquisition. It's a 1969 short bed fleetside. Current status: customized, rough original waiting to be restored.

Originally painted red/ white, with red interior. Now painted fleet white with different front clip.

My 69. I am the 3rd owner. No cargo light or headliner CST. Even the cst sidemarkers don't have light provisions.
I also have glovebox doors, but can't document where the trucks are anymore...

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!

Anyone noticing that all the trucks posted so far with exception of the Canada truck, were built in St. Louis (S), Fremont (Z) or Baltimore (B). How many Lakewood (A) trucks are out there besides mine? I will get an up-to-date photo of everything and add it soon so that it can be added to the registery. Cool thread.
