Ive been thinking lately about doing my truck in light olive green instead on the 503 light green. I've seen one truck here in my town that is this color but there isn't much paint left on it. Anyone got any good picks of a light olive green truck or two toned with light olive green

There are a lot of Med Olive Green truck pictures a quick search away.
The 503 light green was a 67-69 color (upper)
The later 504 was a popular color and often two-tone(lower)
Depending on your interior color you might want to go with a color more like the 70 512 Dark Blue Green Poly than the light olive. 518 and 529 would also be good choices.

Kinda sad to see that sweet light green shorty's pic, that rig was stolen from the members drive way a few years back - never to be seen again...

Here is a pic of my truck in it's mostly original paint but I plan on swapping the cab and clip off my 68 to it and had plans to paint it 503 light green with a white top and bottom (like c/10 kings gumby) but I keep seeing this light olive green truck running aroun and would love to see some pics of a nice shiny light olive green paint job.

I don't have any real good daylight outside pics of it yet, but the 70 C10 in my sig has fresh Medium Olive paint. You can also check out Scott's project he just wrapped up last summer for a REALLY nice example:

It is sad to see Chucks truck. He had the worst luck with that. I think he had recently sold the other nice SWB K/10 he had, then lost his job or was seriously underemployed.

The Olive poly colors are Medium (lighter) and Dark (darker). There is no Light Olive Poly. There's a Light Green,like on the truck and like Gumby...same color.

Here's your Medium Olive Poly. It seems to be hard to mix because it doesn't seem to come out consistantly:

Hmmm, I just assumed it was a light olive. The truck that runs around my town is a silvery green color that appears to be all original, just faded out. I thought maybe it was a factory color but maybe it's been Earl Scheib'd back in the day

I looks similar to the cascade green off the late 50's corvettes but a little more silver or just could be faded out that bad

That's what I'm saying,I've seen it look from silvery to candy apple green looking. When it's old it's a much paler green.

Yup, I ran into this with my build. Seems to come out different with each paint manufacturer and each brand within. Runs from silvery, green apple, yellowish, muddy and every shade in between. The yellow highlights and metallic came out prominate in mine. Up close next to the original paint it's very close, about 20 feet away it's not so close.

It must just be a faded out med olive, but i really like the look of it. May end up going with the corvette cascade green and white, I think it would look real good on a 68 short wide with the white top and bottom.

I would add to Special-K's comment about color variation that the Medium Olive looks quite a bit different when sprayed in a base/clear versus single stage. On mine the color can vary from the candy green to more of a gold depending on the light it's under.

Tim, You are so right about the color being variable. The stock paint tends to burn silver and repaints just seem to start out that way. My 72 Suburban in 83, was burned bad enough to consider refinishing the hood.

I think that color would look great. You won't see others,yet it won't look odd because it's a GM factory color. Sometimes it's nice to go "sort of original". It makes people look and ask,"Did they come like that?"

My thoughts exactly, after seeing renokeene's "rose" and 67chebys "cloud9" I've really started thinking about the older 50's light/pale colors that would look factory but not like everyone else's.

The interesting thing about the faded medium green, at least with the white stripe, is that they apparently painted the entire truck white, then painted the medium green over that. As time faded the medium green away in places, the white underneath shows through more and more. If you look at the passenger door in my profile picture of the truck before I tore it apart, you can see what I mean.

Also, here is a shot of the door, where you can see the paint that was under the trim, versus the faded coloring.

Here are some green threads. One thing about green is that it photographs poorly. 69 Pontiacs came in Limelight green poly which is gorgeous in person but I've never seen a good picture of a car that color. Especially on a computer.

If you look at the passenger door in my profile picture of the truck before I tore it apart, you can see what I mean. Also, here is a shot of the door, where you can see the paint that was under the trim, versus the faded coloring.
