Re: header fitment?

That depends on what year of truck you are working on and whether ground clearance is an issue or not.

Re: header fitment?

Pretty sure headers made for the truck and engine combo will fit better then camaro headers.....the headers made for both my trucks fit excellent.

Re: header fitment?

I'm curious about this as well. I called JEGS yesterday and they said that they have a set of long tube headers that fits mid 60's going back maybe 40's but said he knew they fit 50's trucks as well.

I'm looking for a set for my '60 Suburban with 350. Any idea if under the hood and frame wise he's correct? The guy from Summit Racing said I could only use shorties.

Here's a link..

The problem is ground clearance on a lowered truck, I have to be pretty careful with the 2wd Blazer.

Re: header fitment?

I am sorry, that I do not have pics....the Hookers did fit my truck nice, as said about 2-2 1/4" below the rails @ the collector flange. They also hanged nice & parallel on the collectors. I would question, if you are running the old truck 4 speed trans(granny low), if the headers would clear the bell mount cross member? I run a 3/5 drop on my truck, & no issues with ground clearance....but do your own check. Jegs # is 520-2452 HKR. You will find fitment & mods specs. Best of fun, Longhorn

Re: header fitment?

The problem with running anything but headers designed specifically for a truck, is that headers that don't drop below the frame are not going to work with your bellhousing crossmember.

Re: header fitment?

I've used these (or the equivilant flo-tech part #) on my c10 and K10 with a sbc (no z-bar clutch though) and had pretty good luck with the fitment. The only hard part is if you have factory AC.

I always recommend nice header studs/bolts and aluminum/copper gaskets because the flanges are pretty thin.

I also used ebay 4th-gen Fbody headers on my LS swap and regretted it a lot.

Re: header fitment?

I used the HKR2452 headers also, no issues. They went on a 68 c10 manual sbc.

Re: header fitment?

The best headers available right now are the new Hooker Exhaust manifolds! I just installed them on my 85K20 with NV4500. You will wonder why it took so long for someone to produce these. I will never, ever....ever waste my time on long tube headers again.

Do you have pictures of how they clear and sit under the truck and from the side? Do they tuck up in the frame or sit bellow it?

Re: header fitment?

Those look great! I'd love to see a dyno test of these against long tube headers and also vs both the large and small outlet rams horns.
