shackle/hanger guys come in

i just finished doing a McGaughy's shackle/hanger. i was looking for a 4" drop . i measured all four corners before starting. an it turns out i only got a 2.5" drop on both side. i did leave the leaf spring an shackle bolts LOOSE an jump in the bed an drove around the block a few times. no change in drop. i expected a 3-4" drop. not 2.5", is this something that will settle down later.

1. whats average drop with this kit
2. using stock shock- could that be my prob. even though plenty room still left

here is a few pix

Did you replace the hanger in the front as well? I cant see from the pic

I noticed the bed notch is already rusted...did you compare the suspension pieces you replaced? Im thinking your truck already had hangers on it

hmmm...interesting lol

When I did mine, my stock hangers where way shorter than yours. Yours dont look aftermarket but maybe they were 1 inch drop? That would be why you ended up with closer to three inches?

Looks like a one on drop shackle. Shouldn't come so close to the cross brace from factory

tinydb84 INSIDIOUS '86 both yall were right i compared it to stock rear end assemble im using for parts. an sure enough it is one inch bigger had i known that i would went with a flip kit. either gonna put back to stock an sell the kit an buy a flip kit. or buy some drop leafs. just sucks spend all that time grinding an drilling rivets out for nothing

Re: shackle/hanger guys come in

Go with the flip kit. You can keep half the kit and go with a 5/7 drop if you want.

Drop leafs are so expensive I wouldnt do them unless one of my springs was bad
