Threw the bed back on and turned it around in the garage. I had to take a photo or two before the dismantling began. Since I'm not Alan and this is going to take a lot longer than his Orange rig.

Throwing the bed on and removing hood and spring and started on top took a while so not a whole lot removed so far.

Yeah. When I was a lot younger I did some work on a 67 Firebird and well back in those days there wasn't digital cameras to document what parts go where so when I took some things apart and put them all in a bin later I had so many screws, pins and bolts with no idea what went to what.

None the less I swore I'd never do that again. A few small projects later and its been the genernal practice. Bag it all and tag it all and even if you delay a project for a while the worst your out is your wifes sandwhich bags and a permanent marker.

What I seriously have screwed up many times and sware never again. All wires you put a small letered decal on the ends of all wires and its corresponding connection. Had a VW bug and I replaced the gas guage. In the end I sware I had to have the brights on and the left blinker on to start the motor. Yeah I felt like an idiot for a while chasing that one down.

Ok, now I'm off my soap box about tagging things. I have bolts to remove.

I do agree I've been rambling for the last month or two. Weather has been really cold and I wasn't really in the mood to be a human popsicle. I've decided to get back on my original plan. I swore I'd didicate at least 30-60 minutes a day on the truck. The last month or so its been reading forum posts and researching parts. Now its bolt turning.

kizer looking at your truck with the hood off it seems to be light green code 503,and that is what my truck is that is on my avatar.it is also a 65 long fleet c10 that looks to be the twin to your truck.i really dig your truck i think it looks cool even with the bed off.good luck on your project and i will keep tuning in to see the progress.

Thanks Collins. I'm really thinking of painting it the original color either in a two tone or solid however instead of having a glossy finish going with more of a flat. As well instead of chrome everywhere going with a brushed aluminum look. I've always liked the dull looking finishes. Then again that's today and who knows what tomorrow says.

Nice update pics.......I understand the weather thing totally. When it gets to summer here its hard to want to work on stuff when its 105* or more and you're completely drained when you're done. Not the same as freezing, but an obstacle nonetheless.

Well mine is suppose to be 503 as well. Who knows, if we both return our trucks to the stock color they'd look pretty sweet siting next to each other at WalMart!!!!

Or we could cruise over to Home Depot. Hahaha, the drive is what 300 feet further.

I sorta wished we had a local group of old "truck" guys that got together now and then in our area. All I ever see is the low riding Tuner guys. Hondas, VWs and whatever else that runs with a HUGE muffler tail pipe.

Worst case I guess we become the truck guys I suppose.

Got the grill off and took the drivers side fender off along with both of the cowl pieces. Man I couldn't believe how much dirt and pine needles where behind them.

Why didn't anybody warn me about the bolts up in the very front at the highest point in the fender next to the grill. OH MY GAWD it was a pain in the butt to get out. I thought I'd pop off both fenders and go back inside and watch some TV and relax. Oh heck NO. I spent more time cussing at my wrench that kept falling off the nut that you couldn't get a rachet on, but thank the almighty craftsmen gods that I had a ratchet wrench I could barely get to hang on.

Man my flash makes that dirty stuff look rusty as all can be. Man I need to put more light on it so it doesn't look so bad. Bahahahaha

I don't post them all the time, but I am taking pictures of how wires are connected and ran. Which bolts have shims and other things. I guess I need to figure out how I'm going to share them if anybody asks later or when I need to reference them myself.

I suppose I could say "Hey just check out my photobucket account", but that sounds rude. Oh well I'll keep doing what I'm doing and if anybody asks then I'll worry about it then.

What I really can't wait to do is do a slide show when its all done. From start to finish. Man its going to be awesome.......... Anyways. hahah

Slim anytime you want to come over and see what I got going on do so. I'm just across the freeway, but I warn you I might put you to work. Heck when it comes to pulling the cab I might PM you anyways just so I can say I made a fellow truck guy help and so you can see how not to screw it up like I'm sure we might end up doing it.

Now try breaking down an entire front clip(hood included) in a junkyard, by yourself, midday, summertime @ 96* with about 85% humidity--and then carry/wheelbarrow everything, what seemed like a mile, just to pay for it. At least I had done it before and knew(sorta) what I was getting into. What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment and a fool for a good deal!

Great work!! Keep tearing away at her.

BTW, those bolts in the front are a PITA!

I did remove the hood by myself and put it in the bed. I swore I'd never do that again by myself. My arms appearently are not 6+ long and I figured out I'm only 5'7" so I can't tower over the engine bay to take it off.

I got it off and luckly I'm planning on replacing it anyways because that SOB was heavy and ackward to sling around.

Is it possible to dip the entire truck in penatrating oil?

Oh, and on the hood, I do have a slight leverage/height advantage. I'm 6'10".
