Post Houndstooth Seats

Did 71-72 Blazers come with Houndstooth seats as an option, and if so was the back bench also houndstooth or was it the vinyl scroll?

It is my understanding there were never "factory" houndstooth bucket seats.

I thought that houndstooth seats were standard on the highend models for 71 and 72. But I could be mistaken. Does anyone else have any input.

Houndstooth was standard on Cheyenne super with bench seat. For some reason if you ordered bucket seats on a "super" they were vinyl??? Some more wierd things GM did.

I have heard a lot of people say that they did not come from GM that way. All the parts places sell houndstooth covers for bucket seats. But then again I would have to hear something many more places than this board before I would say it's a fact. Gm did some really weird stuff back in these years. Hell if the truck came from a different assembley plant you will never know what they did different. If they were out of this part but had something else that would fit,do you think they shut the line down. One thing I know after 20+ years of taking GM stuff apart the are no apsolutes on what was installed factory. You can have a factory assembly manual right in front of you and that don't mean they did it that way. Back in these days if you went to a dealer and said I want that truck but it has to have houndstooth buckets,it would have right after lunch. I guess what I am saying is any time someone has something that seems a little different that what is supposed to be stock, and they bought the truck new and swear up and down that is the way it came from the dealer,it is a good chance it did.

When I bought my 72 chy super I wasn't all that concerned with 'originality' but have gotten more curious as to what was 'factory' and what wasn't. The restoration packet I got from GM helped somewhat but when you try to get down to the real "nitty gritty" it comes up short. If there was some factory sales/equipement manuals available (like exterior/interior color combo. etc, etc) it would sure help. And why do after market supplier sell such things as houndstooth bucket seat covers and in color combos if they were never factory?
