dana 44 rebuild

I've started to pull apart my front axle (dana 44) on my k10 but have never done it before. The ujoints on the axle shafts are shot. Are there any good writeups you guys could point me to. I've looked at a few online but there seems to be a few different setups.?

Thanks

Re: dana 44 rebuild

I have replaced the ujoints in my spicer cardan joint and my axels. I can't remember if the axels are like this, but the drive shaft ujoints are held inplace with a resin that you have to melt out. It makes for an exciting ujoint change. I replaced every ujoint in the truck, but can't remember if the axels were like that or not. I don't think they were.

Thank you!

The plastic resin is only in later model axles. But to help others who may be reading this, you do not have to melt that stuff out. It will shear off when you press the joint apart.
