Exclamation new member needs a little help!!!!

I just got a 68 SB truck with no motor or trans for $500.

I have a IROC-Z with a 350 TPI/700R4 and I plan to put it in the truck.

I need to know what ideas anyone has for running the eletric fuel pump from the tank.

1)Can I get another tank that will fit a eletric pump or do I need to do some custom fabing?

2)I plan to use the aluminum driveshaft from the camaro in the truck....what do I need to do to make it fit?

Thanks and I hope to have some pics of my new baby soon.

Cool

Check out my pics in my signature. I have installed a 305 ho tpi in my 71. I used a 93 sub. tank in the bed. (42 gal.) It has all the baffels and lines run already for fuel injection, just swap pumps out. you will need a high flow 45psi pump, suburban is only 17psi. I also have seen guy's take there orginal tank out and drill a hole through the bottom of it and have a small box built under the frame with the fuel sender in it with the pump so you can use the factory tank. You could also find a small car tank with fuel injection are buy a new one from a vendor. I also used the 700-R4 out of a 87 camero with corvette up grades with b&m lock up switch and have over 100,000 miles on this set up with no problems, as far as the drive shaft I can't say, I used my two peice shaft and had it cut and rebalanced with new bearings. Sorry for such a long reply. If you need more info e-mail me.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Thanks for the reply

A few more questions for you though....

Did you use the harness for the engine/pcm from the donner car or did you get a new one from somewhere?

Cool

I used a street & performance harness, because back in 88 when I put the motor in they were about the only people who knew about this stuff. I'm running there V-6 Ferrio computer with no egr valve, knock sensor, I have had no major problems with it except I can't hook up to a computer to trouble shoot anything, just have to use idit light in glove box.

You can get an external fuel pump that will work. I mounted mine on the frame rail about 3 feet in front of the fuel tank after I moved it under the bed. It works great. I got mine from Jim's Performance. It was around $120 and that was about as cheap as I could find one. As far as the harness goes, you should be able to use the old one, just get a TPI swappers guide book and it will show you all the wires and what they are for. You may want to delete the EGR and burn off relays. They are not necessary. Good luck, Jeff.

I was thinking about taking out the stock tank....draining it then drilling a hole and adding a bung to the bottom of it.

Then flush it out and put it back in with a small hole in the floor for the bung to feed through.

Then just adding a in line pump that is gravity feed from the stock tank.

Any ideas on what pump to use?

You mean the in cab tank? If you do, there is no need to worry about it drawing a suction. The pumps for the tpi are high pressure. You won't have any problem once you get it primed. That was the only problem I experienced. And a hand vaccuum pump cured that. Let us know how it turns out. Jeff.

Thats what I figured ...(once its primed it would work). But I figured I would ask to be sure.

Do you know of a good high pressure inline pump for a little green?

Thanks for the info.

Cool

When I went to look at the motor it was seating in a guy's garage in the floor with a cracked block. He had the factory wiring but had cut all the connectors off when he pulled it out, it wasn't worth the time to redo, so I bought the s&p stuff, plus like I said there wasn't alot of info back in 88 on transplanting these engine back then.
