Drip channel above the firewall

I've had my 69 c10 panel going over a dozen years, the previous owner made a massive fiberglass channel over the drip channel above the firewall. In hindsight he did a pretty good job, he also completely covered under the cowl in fiberglass, put in mesh screens on the outer edges. Well, to the point... I removed the fiberglass channel yesterday while stripping the firewall getting it ready to paint. There is one area the size of maybe 2 pennys that's rusted through. I hit the whole are with rust converter I figure I could probably just grab some scrap metal, my mig and gob metal on top to fill the hole. Metal is why it rusted in the first place. I would again go over this with fiberglass, or maybe just seam sealer. I'm thinking super thick rustbullet followed by seam sealer.

I'm sure this has been tackled here before, whats the best way to go about repairing this?

I don't watch the whole video yet...but I see what your talking about...I'd clean that channel good to bare metal...weld in your patches...use only epoxy primer in there ..then seam sealer...no need for fiberglass
I think theres supposed to be a cowl seal in that channel
