47-55.1 Remote power e-brake?

I never got around to moving my Lokar e-brake lever when I swapped my bucket seats for a bench. I figured I’d just move it forward about a foot or so over the transmission cover but I stumbled across this remote power unit. Theoretically, I could just leave it under the seat and wire it to a toggle switch in the dash. Anyone using these?

hat i use but made my own . Just buy an actuator not hard to make . even made a box over it just like that one in the pic

I've got one, actually the kit makes it is very simple. Comes with everything.

I see them on EBay ranging from $157 -$399.

Not sure if I'd trust the safety of my car to anything from Johnny law. Current main outlet for Hoffman group stuff.

I want mechanical that actually works as an emergency brake if you need it to and works a solid and not going to fail park brake for times you absolutely have to have a park brake.

Yep, working with late model cars with all that stuff, it is mind blowing how many problems are caused by some STUPID crap. Every single thing is relying on some electronic system, it is mind blowing the stupid crap I have seen.

Nope, this is why I want to drive old cars, because they are basic and they work.

Note that this is a parking brake, not an emergency brake. Takes about ten seconds to fully actuate, so you'd be screwed in an emergency. I would only consider the is your truck has a modern dual master and it functions well.

I do have an dual mc, but that’s a good point.

Looking at the Speedway videos, I counted the seconds that it took to engage the emergency brake. It took about 5 seconds after the button was pushed for the light to stop flashing. They show a stop from 25mph, but I imagine a significant part of that stop time was taken up with the linear motor actuation time.

Five seconds versus the almost immediate engagement of a hand lever or foot pedal concerns me a little. I wouldn't rely on the Speedway ebrake or my ebay claptrap to function as an emergency brake. Parking would be ok though

I have one of these in our new Mazda CX9. It is kind of a PITA but works. Ours has the handy function of disengaging when in drive and he pedal pushed. Great for never leaving it on when driving forward. The PITA part is never sure if its on or off ( only has a single up switch to set and down to release.) Sometimes it takes a couple tries when backing up to release it. All in all i would rather have a manual just like in our 54AD with the 84 E brake modded to fit. Only reason i would see it is if their was no other choice. Curious what happens with a dead battery.

With all things considered, I believe I’ll be sticking with the manual brake and moving it to the middle of the floor.
