I wouldn't bother with the intake and carb without upgrading the cam to take advantage of the bigger carb.
Thanks captain. That's what I have always understood too. The internet makes it too easy to throw out a blanket statement criticizing something while offering nothing to support it. The poor ol' 305 gets plenty of it too. Like you said... It will respond to upgrades just like any other sbc.

Could I use 1.6 rockers to gain enough to use the carb and intake?

Power is a product of airflow. The 307 moves more air, it should make more torque with the same displacement. I used to buy into the bore/stroke thing as a end all for engine builds, but at this point I've seen enough dyno's to tell me otherwise. Its certanly a factor in the build, but unless we are talking a big HP build then I don't think it matters much.

Intake is always a good idea. Bigger carbs not so much. Rockers will gain you pretty much zero power at this level.
