New Guy-1972 Blazer 87k original miles

well, i've been hanging around here for awhile. Always loved the 67-72 body style but i've been into 70 camaros for the last 8 yrs and finally decided i wanted a blazer. Well this one showed up on CL, 2 owner, 87k original miles, original glove box sticker ect ect. Honestly, it spent most of its life in a barn. Needs a little body work on the drivers side rear qrt, with a dent the size of a football. Outside of that, the only rust, i mean the only rust, is on the drivers side rocker panel. Plan is to; fix the dent, repair the rust, paint, new interior kit, lift it 4 inches, keep the steel wheels but put 33inch mud terrains and haul the kids everywhere in it!!! i will definitely be looking to you guys for help. pics of the progress will be posted and updates coming. My first question is, should i replace the quadrajet? Or should i rebuild it? it's having some issues. Thank you guys in advance!!!

Re: New Guy-1972 Blazer 87k original miles

You'll get a lot of opinions on the q-jet. My '72 Blazer engine is factory with a q-jet which works well. It was rebuilt before I bought it. I also have a '71 GMC with 350 and aftermarket Holley carb, which doesn't work so well.

Depending on what the problem is, rebulding the q-jet may be easier since you won't need to change or modify the throttle linkage and choke, etc. Do a search on here for q-jets, and you'll get some good info, and recommendations for carb rebuilders, etc.

Nice Blazer, BTW!

Welcome
I would just rebuild the Q jet.
I am a Holley guy But I know them inside out.
If yours is original just rebuild. They are good carbs and have an awesome throaty sound when you floor it.
Nice looking Blazer BTW.
