I smell gas

I've noticed that there is the strong odor of gasoline that appears to be coming from my exhaust. My cloths reek from the smell after I let it sit running for awhile. I've checked and there are no leaks anywhere. It's a 327 with TPI. What gives?

It's a 90-92 conversion using the MAP sensor.

Re: I smell gas

Pugs is probably right about the source, but how is it getting in? Is tank still behind the seat? Check for leaks, since it's TPI I assume you changed out the tank to the back. Your probably have a hole or two between the inside and outside. Might be fresh air vents too that are not sealing, or door seals. You can check by getting a strong trouble light and having a friend run it around the firewall, doors, and under cab in the dark while you look for light. If exhaust is dumped right under the cab or bed that does not help either. Good luck.

Re: I smell gas

Are you throwing any codes? Any pics of the engine bay for kicks? My '88 IROC and '54 are TPI. Do you have the decoder for your check engine light? I just got the Craig Moates software for my laptop and it is way more help when tuning your TPI rod.
