Blowing blue smoke
So as some of you know who have been reading my posts I picked up a 89 Chevy 2wd for my wife. When we picked it up it was blowing a bit of smoke I was thinking it was because of the cold and hadn't been started in a while. Well today when I finished installing all the front end suspension on it I pulled it out of the garage and it was blowing as soon as I started it and when it's idling it smokes a little then if I press on the gas it all comes out and it smokes bluish. So I know it's my rings or valve seals, either way time for a new motor right? Any recommendation where to pick one up? If it's even worth buying one online?

Re: Blowing blue smoke
If you want fresh, I would get a new crate motor. Other than that, check the local yards for people pulling motors from that generation of truck.(88-95)
Unless you want to change the computer, you probably need to match it up with the V6, or 305 or 350 that came in it

Re: Blowing blue smoke
I'm hoping it is just my valve seals but it blows smoke at idle too and if I give it gas smoke comes out

Re: Blowing blue smoke
I was looking at the crate motor from summit racing the goodwrench? Would that fit my truck? Any modifications?
