how long of a speedo cable should i order, its the last piece i need for my autometer conversion. heeeeeeelllllllllpppppppp

When I did that on my old truck I just used the stock cable. Worked great. Is your stock cable broken?

what year truck was it because mine doesnt have thread on it so that it will screw into the autometer, i know some of them came with a threaded speedo cable i just dont know what years so i can order one.

I know my 84 isn't a thread on cable to the gauge. Other than that I don't have an answer for you. Sorry

is yours threaded in some form? mine off my '84 700r4 is.. and from looking yours is an '86 which the cable is the same from LMC, manual and automatic trans. cables are different however

i got a 700r4 and its threaded into the tranny but not to the speedo its like a clip on one

mine i know was a screw on we did some electrical work a while back and it def. was a screw so i'm assuming the replacment one should be a screw on as well, has someone else been into you truck?

mine is definately factory like that and it looks like the one in the lmc link. thats why i was wondering if older models of our trucks come with a threaded one

I just replaced mine today. The cable I took out was a two piece which screwed together in the middle.
I replaced it with a 68" cable from 1Aauto.com It went in easily but it is a tad long. There are options for a 60" cable for use with cruise control and other sizes. My thought process was that I didnt want to get one too short. The 68" one is what I'd suggest because if you modified something under the hood you could always use the couple extra inches to rerought it. The only problem I ran into is that I installed it and THEN found the cable lube in the box so I have to pull the inner cable out again tomorrow and lube it up... then reinstall it.
