"double standards" and other issues in this area

Hey guys,
It has become a trend lately for the 60-66 guys to post or email complaining about "double standards" in this area.

The staff works hard to ensure that does not happen, however, if you feel it is, I really need to know. I have had 4 instances of that exact phrase between post, PM and email recently. That raises an eyebrow so to say.

Please PM me directly, if you are having an issue or feel like there is a problem. I would like to get this straightened out.

Please understand that we value our staff members. If they were not trusted to do the job, they would not be here. Any misunderstandings can usually be resolved quite easily.

Since I try not to poke a sleeping bear, I am going to poke at this one. This is directed to anyone who thinks there is some "double standard" in this area. What double standard are you talking about? I know that I will moderate posts that have WTB, WTS, WIW, etc. for any non supporting members (i.e. non Paid). I do my best to catch these but can't read every single post all the time. If the person is a supporting member, then I do my best to move them into the correct classified area.

If the "double standard" is referring to folks posting Craigslist and Ebay links, that is beyond my control. There is no existing rules to prohibit or limit them to where they should be posted.

I am just trying to get a clear picture of what this "double standard" idea is coming from. Anyone want to share some input?

Thats exactly the point of this posting. If someone is not comfortable telling me, tell him, or bill or josh. Just let us know what the issue is, so that it can be resolved

I agree with what has been said...Nothing I see wrong around here. All the moderators have done a darn good job keeping this site going.

I'm real happy with the moderation here in these 60-66 forums.

i couldn't agree more with those above me either i see nothing wrong ... seems to me things are done well and done fairly too ... with so many people in one place not everyone will be happy . or think the same way but the masses seem to be a happy helpful bunch . just my 2 cents Happy Truckin

I haven't noticed any 'double standards' here in the '60-'66 forum or any of the other areas I frequent. IMO the moderators do the best job they can. As Mike said, it is virtually impossible to catch every incorrect post but I think he does an excellent job. Some people just don't like to be told 'No you can't do that here'

I hate to say it but CaptainFab is right, there are those people who just want to do what they want, They are the people of this world who think their Entitled to Everything, we all know them or meet them everyday and its getting worse. When they don't get it they complain to you Liz, they didn't read the rules they don't care period.

well I would like to know when I was pink I couldn't want a hood for as little as few hours but there is a pink post that wants a flippen jack for daze damn near a week a jack would be a lot easier for shipping then a hood. just saying. but I rest my case on this Im now blue I can want want and want now

Please don't let one or two disgruntled members ruin it for the rest of us. I use this forum nearly every day. This is, hands down, the best place for information and support from the rest of the Chevy truck community.

As a long time lurker and fan of this site I gotta say that I was unaware that the site has moderators. This is a good thing. I currently admin another site and frequent many and the line between keeping the forum running smoothly and being intrusive can be a very hard one to keep clear. This forum does it amazingly well. Don't change anything, whatever you're doing is spot on.

You have been quite vocal via posting and email on how the staff has double standards. I did ask you direct questions in reference to your posting about double standards and the staffs shortcomings, and never got a reply to those. If you could not be bothered to discuss it with me, then it obviously is not an issue at all.

Not the point of this at all, but thank you guys for stepping up and saying its a non issue. We appreciate all the kind words.

My reasoning for this post is that there had been several 60-66 members complaining in reply to posts and email. Not just one but a half dozen or so. Usually it is a bandwagon effect deal, but we wanted to be sure there was nothing else going on that we missed.

Ok,I have been around for a good while. With that said I have to agree with the others who have noticed no Double standards. In fact I was reminded once about the rules. No biggie
The mods do a very good job, that's why I support this site

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply honestly. No one is perfect, no forum is perfect. Things get missed at times or really old threads that were not moderated pop back up and then we see stuff that should have been taken care of. All of the staff does the best we can. We don't get paid for this and we volunteer our time because we want to give back to a great community. Again no one is perfect.

I for one always welcome anyone to PM me if there is an issue and I will do my best to resolve it. I try my very best to be fair, honest and logical. I will never post/reply with anything I am not willing to say in person. I am also a firm believer in folks following the rules. Some are very firm, others are open to interpretation. For me, if it's the latter, I tend to not moderate unless someone else reports it. Once reported, I need to make the judgement call on what to do.

I hope everyone finds this forum to be a fun, friendly and an informative place. I have been here a long time and it is only one of two forums I have ever paid money to be a member on. That says volumes about how much I love it here.

I'm sure my newbie questions have been asked before many times yet members patiently explain w/o being condescending or impatient. I don't see any problems with this forum, the content and membership are excellent.

This is truth. I didn't think much about it years ago, until Josh told me it was his pet peeve when folks would reply use search etc to repeat questions. I like seeing the same things asked, technology, fabrication and parts availability changes over time. The answers you find in search may have great info for you, but someone else may have found a better way that you would not know unless you asked.

Sounds like it's pretty easy to figure out who has a "double standard" problem. Lock this one up, nothing to see here.

I was going to skip this thread when it was first posted, but since it has gone a few days, I'll chime in: this is an incredibly helpful resource, with a knowledgeable, friendly membership that goes out of its way to assist each other. Also, speaking as a mod on two other automotive forums, the mods/admin here do a fine job. They'll never keep everyone happy, and only hear from members when members are unhappy. Most days, they just volunteer their time, try and do what's right, and end up pissing people off.

To people that don't like things around here... just remember, it's the internet. Your feelings may be hurt.

I'm going to agree with the majority here and say this is definitely the best site...best run forum...and most informitive forum I have ever been a part of. When I first starting visiting this site, it was refreshing to come on here and see very little to no drama, like a lot of the "home-town" forums that I am on. Thanks for the hard work that goes into running and maintaining this site. I am seriously on this site every day and learn a lot from the members on here. Keep up the good work and thanks for all you guys do.

I am going to agree with everyone else also in support of the great job the staff does on this forum. I have learned a lot, reading and paying attention to all the information posted by everyone. Now that I have learned that the staff does this voluntarily, there's no better day than today to give you all thanks for all you do. Thanks to you, living the dream is made easier.
