Truck goes in reverse, barely moves in drive
I'm sure this th400 is toast, but wanted to ask first. As stated in the title, my c10 moves in reverse just fine, but if I shift to any forward gear I can rev the engine but it will just crawl forward. Is this a sign that the bands/clutches are toast?
This is a th400 I tried to rebuild for fun. I have a spare in good condition so I'll just swap them. |

Re: Truck goes in reverse, barely moves in drive
Check your fluid level. If your trans is low on fluid it will do this as well.
What kit did you use to rebuild it?

Here's a schematic.
http://www.tcsproducts.com/media/1/T..._Nov2012_1.pdf Many years ago the TH400 in my 77 Jeep Wagoneer failed. It was because of a worn reverse band. Is the other band for forward gears? |

It's a BOP th400, and shipping wouldn't be worth the effort. |
