72 2wd Highlander need advice

Am trying to get some opinions on a couple of things.
#!. My Glove box tag says I'm to have the df210 mirrors I think they are to big, what do you think ?

#2. I just finished the interior the winter, tell me how feel about it.

#3.the engine compartment is stock and showings its age, should I clean it up but keep it looking stock or LS3 swap ?

This will get me started, Thank you for the help in advance, p.s. This winter I changed out the original th350 and put in a 700r4 and I LOVE IT, still have the th350 keeping it just in case.

Pretty awesome truck. I like it a lot. I have never seen a 2wd highlander blazer.

Thank you Brian, the mirrors on the blazer in the photo are not the df210 look them up on this site and see what you think then, I think it would look like dumbo.. again Thank you.

I think I would stick with the stock engine as well. If it were mine, I would grab some Simple Green and spray it (on a cold engine) all over and let it sit for a little bit, then I would hose it off and see how it looks. I think with a bit of elbow grease and some products that would clean up really nice. And as you know, you don't see too many like yours so (to me) keeping it stock(ish) would be the direction I would go.

Besides-anyone can put an LS engine in a truck

Is the motor original to the truck? What's the stamped code on the block just ahead of RH cylinder head?

Yes it is, the number is V040TDJ the block code tells us its from Michigan and the blazer was built in Flint. It has 70k original miles.

DF2 Camper mirrors were part of the YG8 Highlander Promo Package your Blazer was ordered with.

4x2 CE10514 (2wd) Blazers are not encountered often much less with the Highlander Promo package or Highlander trim upgrade (there is a difference). As such I'd be inclined to keep it stockish.
This was ordered to be a nice driver. Notable options in addition to the "C" promo package include front stabilizer bar and Posi rear end with 3.73 gears replacing the stock open 3.07. It even had mixed tires, blackwall L78-15/B all around. Up front highway tread and off-road rears. The spare could be either but I'd bet on an off-road tread spare.

Given you already have a color change keeping the base mirrors is an easy decision. Camper mirrors are big and can be hard to live with. Love to see this go further stock like ride height and tires but its your ride.

I agree. On that truck camper mirrors would be way too large and ruin the look. Nice Blazer!

I live in northern cal near San Fransisco, Thanks you guys it looks like I'm going in the right direction. I will be painting it back to stock in the future . one thing it still has the smog tubes every where any suggestions ???

Made them, I have one more set I need to put together and I might sell them.

I would definitely buy the rear cover. Bought my 72 Highlander off the forum and the front seats were done. Back seat cover is on backorder indefinitely.

Since this is morphing into a seatcover conversation I must point out that Highlander Blazer rear seats should have the scroll work vinyl center inserts and the ribbed vinyl back to be "correct".

I'd keep the smog equipment with the original motor. It's a rare historical vehicle you have and would stand out among the sea of modified original 2wd and 4wd conversion K5s if originality is preserved. IMO it's a true gem as manufactured.

Hey Maldo, I met you at the Budweiser show last September. I would keep the mirrors you have. The camper mirrors are a bit bulky.

As close to stock as it is.....keep it that way...
For these Gen 1 K/5 Blazers and GMC Jimmys......stock is cool....as well as the many that have been modified....that's cool too...
