I wouldn't worry to much about the chrome moldings. A roll of it is cheap enough you can put new on every few years and always look good. The last time I used it though, the stuff lasted well over 10 years before it started getting dirt and junk under the chrome overlay. Granted this was stuff we installed back in the early/mid 90's, probably different manufacturer by now.

In the 80's and early 90's we always had a roll of the aftermarket around. If we did a repair on a truck that had that molding, we'd use the aftermarket on every panel but a door. The factory molding for the door had a bevel on the fender side that was hard to reproduce, otherwise was perfect match and lasted as good as the OE stuff. We could basically do an entire truck for the price of two OE pieces. They also make it in the black/chrome like the 88-98 trucks had.
Heck, you can buy anything aftermarket these days. I miss the old days when about all you could get was stripes and moldings aftermarket. These korean sheet metal replacement parts drive us crazy on cars these days.

Okay,
We started fitting the wheels last night. I had a feeling that it had the heavier half ton rotors, sure enough the Boss 338s won't fit without some "minor" mods to the rotors, dust cover and center caps (not done yet but think I have a plan). BTW, I knew all about this before I purchased these wheels. I am going to post a full write up in the 338 thread. On to the pics:

It was a tough weekend, had some stuff that came up that took me away from this project until this afternoon. It took just about all day to get all the mods done and get the wheels mounted.
Here are the fuzzy pictures: I had to cut about 3/8" off the spindle so the modified dust cover would fit. I didn't have to redrill the cotter pin hole (cut it right to the edge).   Had to cut the tabs off the front center caps and use silicone to hold it in place. Front finished, we painted the caliper red, just thought would look better than rust.  Started the 2" drop shackle install  Cut the clearence in the bed brace. I plan on coming back to this and boxing it in with sheetmetal.   Finished for now:  snuck down to the gas station to try out the new shoes. it drives great BTW.

Is it just me, or are white letter tires out of style now? Heck, I missed white walls, but learned to like white letters. Now all I see are black walls everywhere.
Truck looks awesome though, but I agree, it needs to come down some more for "The Look". Love those wheels.
