OK, just to be clear here to my Burb buds.

It is true, I did get a little '70 SWB K10 pick up.

My burb is currently staring the K10 down in the drive way, but I think they will warm up to having each other around.

As for the K10 sharing the garage with the ol' girl? Who knows, still a lot of butt sniffin goin on out there right now with these two. So, we will see.

OK, I figured you guys woulda seen the pics in another post I did in the 4x4 section. So here are the pics of the rig the day I got it to my house.
Since then I have fixed an oil leak, exhaust leaks, put a new bench seat in it, and did a quick and dirty tune on the engine. I gotta say, it's a little beast of a truck and it isn't running to it's fullest potential yet.

New bench I picked up from another board member.

The bench that came with the truck looked nice, but it was really soft and springy so it was not so comfortable.

OK, I actually looked for your thread - but never found it (should have looked harder).

Vectorit...that's a sweet rig! I like the shell, and the bed of the truck too - that's totally set up for some fun! Looks real clean... I'm envious! Nice find.

Yea, I deleted that post.
I was pretty sure I didn't want it anymore, since the owner was firm on his price. Which was out of my budget.

I couldn't stop thinking about the truck, and sent him an email asking if he still had it and to not forget about me when he decided to publicly sell it.

He responded with "what's it gonna take to get you into the truck"

We met again, and I could tell he was done with the truck. Apparently he had reached a point, that he just wanted it gone.

Made him an offer, which was lower than all the other offers and he took it.
I had no way of getting it home, since I am single and friends/family live far away to where it would have been too much of a hassle to get it to my place. He offered to deliver it if I paid for the fuel, I just had to wait a couple of weeks for his schedule to permit the time to deliver it.

The PO did a lot of stuff with this rig. As he told me during the sales process, that on his last trip he got ribbed by his buddies for using such and old truck pulling a horse trailer. He said "there are those that appreciate these old trucks, and then there are those that just don't get it"... He loved the truck, but as he put it - he just didn't have the energy to maintain it anymore.

He used it mostly for his equestrian, and civil war living history hobbies.
Just before he sold it to me, he put in a new 7-way trailer system to handle his 4 horse trailer. Then used the truck to pull it hundreds of miles on highway, and then back in to the dirt roads to meet up with other horse riders to go on a back country trip. He said it pulled hard, and did an average of 10mpg the whole time.

But I think what did him in on it, was that the headers started leaking bad and the wind shield wiper switch went out. He said he tried fixing the switch, but got really frustrated with it.

He's a solid guy, and was happy to buy it from him.

I took this picture just before I took off to try out the suspension after I replaced all of the shocks, and did some clean up on neglected leaks and what not.

I thought the old truck was saying something to me...

Chris...that is a neat ride you picked up. Very clean truck. Those seats look pretty darn good. I still love your Burb, but this one is nice too.

Thanks! I still love my burb more too!

Actually I like the driving characteristics of my burb more so than the PU, since it is heavier and has a smoother ride than the SWB PU.

Cool....I should have my burb on the road in a couple of weeks! Found a great guy here on the board to help me finish wiring the 6.2 Diesel up and it is coming along quickly. Your burb is inspiration for me and probably most of us on here. I was looking at you album of Burb pics, and those of you camping and shooting over the hood is something I am looking forward to with my 12 yr old boy! Wish me luck...anyways, nice truck bud!

Oh yea, some not so good memories there.

The process was tough, since I had to work in a very confined space but I also had to be stealth about it. Since working in a storage unit on a vehicle is a no no to most storage companies around here, so it was all about being quiet and acting like I was just moving stuff in and out of the unit.

Plus one can only work for so long in a place like that with out a bathroom, or a place to take a break from the heat. So most of the time everything had to be planned out, as in one project at a time and stick with it until it was completed.

I have a lot of painful and good stories while building my burb, so much so that my parents keep telling me I need to write a book about it... lol

I may just do that.
