wiring harness
one of my next projects is rewiring my 55 . anyone have any advise ? is there any one manufacturer thats better as far as kits go? and for those of you who have done it yourself is it really that hard? i wire houses all day so it cant be that hard right? lol . thanks for any input

You'll end up with as many suggestions as there are manufacturers.
Top-end ones I like are Ron Francis, Painless Lower-end EZ Wiring Easy as pie to do. EZ2Wire is another cheaper one that's pretty decent. Last edited by robin58; 10-05-2007 at 05:13 PM. |

Look for one that has the circuits you want with the wires labeled at various intervals along the wire and the price range you can aford. They make some with a rainbow of colors in it or all black. Price does not always equal quality. I use the Keep It Clean kits mainly because I like the way they layout during install. They also have some good directions that I understand. I also like that they are mid range in price with good quality. Many of the fitted kits are really universal kits with some drops that fit the make specified.
Your going to have some fitting reguardless of brand or if its a custom fit or not. Don't expect a plug and play kit. |

i have always used painless, if you go with a 8 circuit race harness you're looking about $265 they have a universal 12 circuit for $354 and the 18 circuit is the same price. What i like about them is all the wires are labled such as headlights, horn , ext. . very very user friendly and really good tech support.

American Autowire Classic Update kit. First or second series? Either way they have an update kit that includes everything you need including new end connectors you won't get with any other kit. I used American Autowire and had No problems. Even w/ custom wire routing, due to me filling all of the firewall holes.
