1951 - 3100 Pickup Inital Production Date?

Hi,

I am in the process of valuing a 1951 3100 pickup. Can someone tell me the production launch date for 1951 1/2 ton pickups? Need to resolve a couple anomalies and that date will be a real help. Thank you.

Re: 1951 - 3100 Pickup Inital Production Date?

I personally have no clue as to why the production date on a 51 would have any bearing on it's appraised value but to each his own.

There may be a source for when production started and when the first 51's appeared on "announcement" day when the new Chevrolets hit the showroom floor. That was a big deal up into the early 70's when dealers had a bit of a celebration when the new model hit the showroom. That was usually in October or November.

You can use the GM herritage center info to decode the serial number on the door post that tells most of the info https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

Each model for each plant started with 1001 so the production number minus 1001 on the door post number will tell which unit it was in the number of that model produced in that plant during the model year.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

THANK YOU! Been there, done that. She was assembled at Baltimore, MD, in February 1951 but bears an "HP" (1950) Serial Number. Think it may be a Model Year transition vehicle. That happened once in a while.
