I was going to just make up my own plate for the power steering box install on my 63, but lately I haven't been feeling too well, so I just ordered one.
I ordered a REZ Engineering kit through Classic Parts. It's a great kit and super easy to install. Total time was about 30 minutes or so, and I was going at a real easy pace. It cost me 67 dollars total including delivery charges.

I have done the reading and know there are several great kits out there, but for me, I chose the REZ since it has a plate inside the framerail and outside the rail. This sandwiches the frame. On the donor truck that I removed all of my front end stuff from, there were extensive cracks in the frame rails around the steering box holes. I figured a little extra insurance offered by the inside plate was worth it.

I agree- I put one in my '66 and am happy with it so far.

I would have used the REZ but they wont work on the 60-62.

I just installed one on my 61 what a pain,BUT man if I knew it would drive this nice I would have done it sooner! Awesome!

I believe it's because you have an earlier torsion bar truck with the boxed frame section. The 63 and newer is much easier in this regard.

It was well worth the money though wasn't it ?

That is why I went with a kit from CPP , easy to install on our 60-62 boxed frame. I held off on installing mine for about a year ( lazy) and agree it is a great up grade

I have no problem with REZ, it just that the adaptor is made for a 63-66 frame and you don't find out until you get the instruction, No Big Deal I just sold it anyway.

here is the CPP kit I used on my 60, and the REZ kit for 63-66 note the diffferent in the inner bracket
The cpp instructions left a lot to be desiered

I think REZ has had the most copied products around. They made the brackets years before most and only with the tiny little add in back of mags in the 60's Now everyone copies and sell stuff for less.

thats pretty funny. I just did not know what cpp stood for wanted to make sure I was going to the correct site. I found it earlier though.

I get my first CPP cheque this month

back to the rez kit. sometime it would hurt to put a longer plate on the inside as it would eliminate stress from it cracking again at the end of those plates as they do not seem to go very far past the bolt holes

I used the REZ kit on my 60 almost almost 20 years ago because it was the only kit on the market I was aware of at the time. Back then they didn't mention it wouldn't work on a 1960, so it just took a little longer. I had to drill an extra hole in the steering box mounting tab and used a heavy wall steel tubing spacer near the front, and it's been working great ever since.

I put an REZ kit on my 65 years ago, probably 18-20, like markeb01 said, it was the only one available, and it has worked flawlessly. I took my ps gearbox off to have more room for the LSx install ( didnt really need to tho) and there was absolutely no frame damage, says alot about their kit IMO.
