Does anyone know if a 88 4x4 K5 blazer shell will fit in a 77 2x4 K5 blazer chassis.

I think the 77 frame is a little different. I believe 78 they changed the frame so 78-91 should work...

Mine is a 88 body on a 78 frame.

Thanks guys but I'm not really sure my question has been answered. I need specifics on what is different and what problems I might come accross. What is the difference between a 77 and 78 frame?

Counting from the front. The 3rd set of body mounts back are different. On 73-80 they mount on the inside of the frame. On 81-91 they mount outside the frame.

The floor from behind the front seats on back is different. '78 was the start of a dropped foot well for the rear seat passengers. The body mounts in that area are in completely different spot, and I think the rails are also contoured a bit different. It can and has been done, but there is fabrication involved.

you may want to check to see if the frame of the 77 is going to interfear with the floor of your body.

Looks like my only option is to fab in some channels right behind the seats where the rear floor pan will come into contact with the frame. Then fab some cab mounts for the outside of the frame since I already have a completely rust free 88 shell.

I bought it as an original 1977 2WD Blazer with a 1000 mile fresh 383 and sound tranny. The frame is really clean and before I had done any research I purchased a rust free 88 4WD body i thought would bolt right on. AKA (Damn). I have considered bagging it only because it might give me the chance to alter the chassis for the 88 shell.
