C10 Hess Truck

I recently bought a 1970 C40, the owner of that also offered me this 1971 C10. For the price I could not say no. It's rough, questionable at best lol However, I know sometimes it's hard to find a c10 for "the right price" so I dare not say no. It's got a 307 with a spun bearing (per the previous owner) with a 3 speed. Last ran in the Early 2000's. I have some big plans for this but I'll get to those later. The bed is shot, cab isn't awful but will probably need a floor. Here are some pictures.

Plans now consist of strip it down and assess everything. Then :
-Air
-rust repair / paint
-Figure out what motor I'm gonna toss in there.

I like to keep things as simple as possible and cost efficient (notice I avoided "cheap" lol) Anything I don't think I need I won't keep, no A/c, simple AM/FM radio, stuff like that etc.

Long time update for something super simple. Picked up a set of 15x7 / 15x8 steel wheels yesterday. Gotta start somewhere right? Looking for a engine so over winter after my wedding I can start working on this thing for real.

It does need some work, but the great thing when buying a 71 or 72, is already having disc brakes. You can get them up to par, and have modern brakes with way less expense than converting a 67-70. I will convert both my 67 and 68 before they see the road again.

You can generally buy old school engines complete and cheap these days, nobody much wants them, they are out dated and not in style with hot rodders, Everyone wants a LS engine. I have nothing against the LS engine. The old engines are still awesome, to me!!!

I'll keep the 307 for something down the road..I think I might just toss in a 5.3 with some simple mods that way it's a easy driver that does burn outs lol
