tried one once about 30years ago , a piece of crap from jcwhitney never really got it to work properly, i think that's why it's rare to see them for sale anywhere anymore

I have a Rostra cruise control and it works excellent. I am running a '95 LT-1 and 4L60E trans, which allows me to use the electronic unit. I mounted it under the dash and you can't hear it when it is on.

Mine's an Equus & it's OK, but they don't make them anymore. I've seen a couple of posts that said the Audiovox units worked OK for a cheaper unit. I used a small Radio Shack rare-earth (neodymium) magnet on my driveshaft instead of the bigger, weaker one that came with the CC. It sticks on all by itself, whereas the big one had to be strapped down, but it came loose anyway.

I put an Audiovox unit on from JC Whitney a couple of years ago. Works fine. You can set it up to work with a magnet on the driveshaft, VSS on newer cars, or a tach signal if you have a stick.
I had a stick when I put it on but used the magnet because I knew I was switching to an auto. After the switch it worked fine.

Right now the engine is out at the machine shop. When it comes back I'm going to attempt to hook it up to an Edlebrock carb. It was connected to a stock, 2bbl when I pulled the engine.

I love it. Especially when I'm pulling my boat to a distant tournament.

Take a look at the Rostra units. I have installed a couple and they were great.

Phil Johnson in Grants Pass had a complete factory unit out of a 72 about 6 months ago. Not sure if he wants to part with it but he "gave away" alot of good stuff a while back when he got tossed off the site and quit bothering with the trucks. Rumor has it that his garage is still full of the really rare stuff. Not sure what his email is but someone here might have it.

So that's what that wierd thing is for down by my driveshaft. Is there supposed to be something on the drive shaft as well? I have cruise control in my truck, but I don't know if it works or not. Looks like one of the vacuum lines isn't hooked up, and I don't know what kind of vacuum it needs. ie, vacuum increase with accel, or vacuum decrease with exel. (You know, the two ports on the front of the carb.) Or is it even supposed to be hooked to the carb? Right now the line isn't hooked to anything.
