What rear shocks for a 5" drop?

I'm trying to figure out what length or which shock I need to run on my truck in the rear. I made shock relocators that are similar to the ECE style on top HERE and flipped my lower ones HERE to gain a more vertical shock mounting. I know I need a shorter shock just not which one to buy? Any suggestions from guys with a 5" static drop in the rear? Part number? Brand? thanks

I did a similar drop on my 68 but w/bags instead of coils & 1.5" CPP lowering blocks U used off the shelf replacement shocks.

With my parts combination & similarly modified shock brackets, the top of the rear ends axle tube was tucked into the frame 1" (it was about 7-8" of drop). Subtract the difference of the blocks & that's 6+ inches of rear drop using factory replacement shocks w/o issue.

I ran 00-07 Tacoma shocks, but that's on a truck that was c notched and bagged. with a 5" static, you'll be getting to the end of an oem shock, but you will still have enough to do the job. I'd roll the stock unless you plan on doing some hauling or hard core corniing.

The 5" spring drop w/stock shock mounts? Yes, shorter shocks would most likely be needed.
The 5" spring drop w/the shock mounts re-configured to regain 3" of that travel back yields approx 2" difference. I would measure the shock mount dimensions eye to eye @ ride height & compare them to the shocks dimensions. If you currently have the original shocks (what was on there), use them & see how they work if the dimensions are close enough.

The rear end hitting the frame/c-notch would limit compression travel before the shocks would on my set-up.

I went to the parts store and gave them the KYB 344055 # and crossed it to a monroe shock. Works perfectly on a 3, 4 and 5 inch drop

I would try to measure the original shocks but I trashed those last year.

Do you know what the Monroe shock part number is?

I got my rear suspension finished tonight here is a pic of the tape measure on the left and right side.
It looks like at ride height (without weight of the bed and bumper) it's about 16-3/8" center to center

Anyone have a stock shock they can measure? We need the length @ full extension & compression.

Monroe 32301: Comp-11.875, Ext-18.250, Diff-6.375

FWIW, I have these on my bagged, 1.5" block, ECE relocators setup and they do not bottom out with the axle buried in the bolt-in c-notch.

EDIT: This is a stock replacement shock...

Mcbassin, the math says that's just shy of 2" on extension & 4" compression based on your tape measurement @ ride height. That should work fine.
