Re: Rear axle flange removal?

Here's an old video about differentials.

So you rear is what is called an open differential, meaning that only one wheel pulls at a given time. Limited slip GM diffs typically have a clutch pack oriented in the side of the carrier, and a small set of springs visible in the carrier window. Some versions from different years or makes vary in appearance. All open diffs that I have seen are virtually identical and look like yours

Thanks man. Yeah, I wasn't "raised" around this stuff at all, but I like physical work and projects. Just glad I waited so long to do this truck, so I can do it right. That's the goal anyhow.

Getting excited really, because all that's left to pull is the suspension, steering linkage, engine and trans. For me the take off is the hard part (guaranteed). That's for many reasons, including this (*^)(*^^_( BOOK I'm writing. .....I can say I'm sick up and fed of cleaning parts too..... Ha!. Most of the stuff is worth saving, but wholly smokes, I can do without the nuisance of those tiny wire launching nothing is sacred wheels on a Dremmel.

Thank you for the info. too.
