pulley issues

Hello

ive got a 1972 c10, originally a 350/4 bolt main
po had stuck a broken 305 in it when i bought it, took it out really quick

found a 1979 elcamino 350/4 bolt main(got a great deal on it, Target motor, about 10000 miles on it, chrome valve covers, already painted orange, and hei ignition)with a little help from my friends

ok so here's the issue, i noticed when i bought it the alternator belt was slightly off, its about a 1/4 inch, alternator is on left hand side of motor, original motor was alt on right im assuming

so when i got the motor in, have not fired up yet, but heard run when bought

ive got power steering also,

the alt lines up perfectly with the water pump, but not the crank, same for the power steering, lines up perfectly with the water pump, neither lines up evenly with the crank pulley
laid a straight edge across the power steering pulley, seems the crank pulley needs to go back towards the motor about 1/4 inch(yes , crank is seated)

any help appreciated

couple big car shows and swap meets this weekend, so i can probably find pulleys that i need, just dont know what to look for

Talking Re: pulley issues

I had a similar problem, these trucks mostly came with the "Short" water pumps, hence the long flat curved upper alternator bracket. I decided to run a "long" style pump and the brackets are obviously different, but the lower crank pulley wouldn't line up and belts would walk off the grooves. I finally went to a salvage yard and got the matching set of pulleys and brackets, seems the pulleys I had originally had only worked with the short pump, or got mixed up with other pulleys sometime ago....I got the entire set of pulleys and brackets off of a late 70's Camaro, everything works as it should now.
Hope this helps!
Ben

I've got a ton of pulleys if you end up needing something, How about posting up a couple of pics showing what you are working with
