box is beat to heck, but everything is there, all "over 300 parts" of it. not sure, but guessing the first issue of this model (early '70's...?) the prices on the back of the instruction sheet sure look like '70's era....

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

been getting some of the basic's done. lots of trial & error & FITTING!
nothing glamorous
been spending too much lately (according to wife...) so i did'nt order my $30 one ton rims. using the rims from the sneaky pete. besides not being close to fitting, they will need lock-outs & axle/axle flanges. what a boring thing to do....sand, sand, sand
Name: 720.jpg
Views: 325
Size: 46.0 KB

made a few changes to the frame, started adding rivets
Name: 719.jpg
Views: 317
Size: 31.9 KB

and finally got some kind of tub happening. was going to build one, but it would use up my 030 stash, & i'll need it for later. seeing how 'bout 91% of it is out of my junk box.....hate them ugly molded seats- at least they match
this is what i got so far after figuring it all out, i will make door panels, window cranks, seatbelts,......

well, the tub fits nice, i have a floor. now i can get going. just have to mock up a drivetrain & mounts. thinking i should have bought 44's or 49's, them 38's look small......

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

Man, you been busy while I was up north at my cabin. It all looks great and I agree about shortening the wheel base. I like the 38's. The front end would sit a little higher with a load on it. So with a truck up there it will look correct. I'm also liking the detail (rivets). Nice attention to details. Keep it up!

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

hey, it's always great to get out!
got a question, prob simple & stupid to you, but i have'nt drove a rollback, nor can i find a pic on the computer- are the deck controls mounted to the deck? or stationary & mounted to the frame?

some cab work
the firewall is from the sneaky pete kit, has a mini kenworth nose, so after a bunch of grinding- got it into a squarebody. lost the floor ribbing sanding the bejeezus out of it, so laid some strip styrene over what was left. will putty it up & smooth it & hopefully look like actual cab ribbing

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

have a warn electric winch i was going to use on the deck, but it looked TINY & WIMPY on there....went looking for a pic & see some of the older trucks are running worm gear winches. i think a worm gear with cogged wheels looks more interesting then a wimpy electric, so i ripped apart a old car cassette player, hoping to get one or 2 decent size wheels. boy, was i surprised when this many came out of it....

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

The bed controls are frame mounted (stationary). Standard equipment is on the drivers side. Optional dual controls are on both sides. Air cleaner looks great. Everything is coming out nice. Creative thinking on the wideband using the transistors as oil filters.
