Looks decent. You think they would have aired up The tires before the pic.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I have a Highlander. Custom Deluxe with the Highlander Promo package. It is Ochre and White. I want to think SSTIM for starting this post. I was in the process of getting the inside of the truck completely redone. New carpet, seat redone and the door panels and visors refurbished. I was deciding on the colors and I came upon this site. As if it was a message from above one of the first threads was this one. After reading it I found out I had a Highlander with the grey plaid seats. I was going to have the seat redone in black and replace the door panels with black. After discovering what I had my decision changed and I am going back to the original set up. Once it returns from the upholstery shop I will post pictures. I believe the Grey plaid material was found at SMS. This is my very first post and want to think everyone for letting me be a part of this forum. I have read quite a few threads and found out that I do not know as much about the 67-72 Chevy trucks as I thought.LOL

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

YES.... Another truck saved! :-)
Welcome to the board and Thanks for the shout out!
This is exactly the reason for the thread to find the trucks and at least give them a chance of being recognized as the distinct variant they are.
From your post its easy to imagine that "Wow I have one of those" moment you had. Please post more about your truck and pictures too if you will.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

What years were the Highlander Promo package available? They were available with all models ( Custom, Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne and Super Cheyenne) correct? I still have not made it out to check my other 72 Cheyenne to see if by chance it is a Highlander as well. My goal is to have 4 trucks done before the Good Lord decides to take me. That way I can pass one down to each of my 4 Grand Sons. The oldest being 4 now so should have some time left. I figure they would be good teaching projects for them. No computer crap on them so just the basic's. It will also help instill a little work ethic into there lives.

Smile Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is another reasonably nice C20 Highlander....looks like option/promotion package C (w/ tilt, a/c, etc)
From a distance, this looks like a very good buy imho.
First off (for me) I would quickly lose those slot wheels and tires and go back to original rims & tires, then definitely look to get rid of that non-original seat and back to a highlander bench....plus re-install the original eggcrate grill insert.
After that....it looks like a very good bit of detailing, buffing, and minor clean-up would really allow that truck to 'pop'.
Anywhooooo...check it out:
http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/5153240466.html
....good to know these trucks are still out there and still available at a reasonable price.
All Good

To clarify, the Highlander trim upgrade was only offered on 1972 4x2 Custom Deluxe Fleetside Pickups and Suburbans as well as 4x2 and 4x4 CST Blazers.

All Good

Pretty sure this was listed before but this is as good an update as any. IIRC it was to be his wife's truck.

To me the slots look great and add the period touch so often missing today on stripper trucks slathered with black or clear and the biggest chromed wheels that can be made to fit.

With a little work this could be a nice looking driver (700R4/Dana 60) but those seats have got to go. After all it is a Highlander! :-)

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Well, after three long months of learning how to be patient, my truck arrived from New Mexico yesterday. It is a blue and white SWB Highlander. The original seatcover is gone, but the truck is very solid overall and is going to be a great start for a keeper. My goal is to get it roadworthy and drive and enjoy it for a while. I'd like to say of a huge thank you to Tyler (57 Task Force) for inspecting the truck and all its paperwork. It took six weeks or so of perseverance on his part to finally meet with the seller. Without members like Tyler, I could not have bought this truck.
