221 rubber mounts

The rubber mounts for the xfer case on my 65 K10 are shot. I ordered new poly ones from one of the usual suppliers and they sent a Prothane 7-1603.Looking at old posts it looks like this is for the passenger side mount. If that is correct then I still need the drivers side. Looks like I may be able to use another set for that side, but both vendor and manufacturer are no help. If this will work where do the two thicker bushings go, top or bottom? Thanks for any help, Tom

Re: 221 rubber mounts

I used 2 sets when i did my rebuild. the steel sleeves are bigger in dia. than my org one were. Can't remember what all i did to use them. Did some drilling-bigger bolts and some big washers as the sleeves are longer. I think the thicker ones only fit one way. They do work with some mods.

Re: 221 rubber mounts

Was hoping that would work. Looked like same bushings left and right, but wanted to hear from somebody that had done it. Thanks for taking the time to help. Tom

Re: 221 rubber mounts

I think I recall using 2 sets as well. Poly IIRC. I ended up re using them on the NP205. I don't remember re drilling but then again don't remember what I had for lunch today either.

Re: 221 rubber mounts

I'm pretty sure they are 205 ones. None made for the 221

Re: 221 rubber mounts

So the 205 and 221 use the same bushings?

Re: 221 rubber mounts

Chris-- I had to drill out the Xmember holes and add some washers as the new sleeves were too long. The id of the sleeves was to big for the stock 221 bolts. Might of cut the new sleeves shorter. Been awhile and didn't take any pics why IDN. took pics of everything else lol.

Re: 221 rubber mounts

New sleeves in kit are same length as originals but both ID and OD are bigger. Don't want to drill out bracket or frame holes as then no going back. Think I may hit a machine shop and see if they can make me some with large OD for poly bushings, but smaller ID so I can reuse 1/2 inch bolts as original. Glad to hear you both got these to work. Thanks, Tom
