Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Thanks for the compliements guys; I got alot done last night (no pics though, im gonna get some in a couple minutes) and I'm going to get even more done today... Just wait and see

Honestly guys, the deeper into the project I get the more fun it is... I had a dream last night I drove the truck for the first time... I cant wait for that dream to become a reality!

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Hey guys, here is what got done yesterday...

Both right side cab mounts welded in, along with home made patch panels front and back. Took all day (Thanks dad, I am not very confident yet in my welding, to be honest)

I didnt get a ton done, accept for helping my dad and I scraped most of the crud off the bottom of the body. A bunch of friends and I took on head role of the cheering on our schools girls field hockey team, and they had a game and we still had to make signs... Hey, your only a senior in high school so we figured we'd do something no one else does and cheer on a "forgotten sport" at our school... anyways, less babble and more pics... Enjoy *remember this is yesterday's stuff*

And today, here is the update from today... Home made patch panels were made for the floor, but not welded in yet. Trimmed and everything, they just need welded... While my dad was tinkering with that, I got the front end together! I'm getting excited now! Before I toss up the pics, I just wanted to say there was a clearence issue with the Pauls Disc Brake Kit-The top of the spindle rubs against the arm, but with a little convincing it doesnt catch now... Not much of a big deal, but I figured i'd mention it... BTW they are 2" drop spindles.

Its really great to see you kids getting interested in rebuilding these old trucks! It looks as though for awhile we had lost the younger generation to do this stuff. You have done great work on your truck.

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Due date announced: NOVEMBER 14!

Last year they said we had until december sometime, but they changed dates on me... ahh!!!

Last weekend (Friday) I went to Hershey Swap meet/car show and bought some stuff, then came home and hopped over to LMC Trucks to order the stuff I didnt find at Hershey... I picked up

Gas tank neck grommet-$5
Radiator support mounting kit (bolts and all)-$25
Bed mount cushons-$6
window rubber-$45/both

Total-$81 (no tax)

And came home and ordered this from LMC Trucks:

Front Cab Floor-RH-$28.95
Front Cab Floor-LH-$28.95
Color Bond off white interior paint-$12.95 ea (bought 4)
Front cab mount hex bolts-$7.95
Front cab mount hex nuts-$.95 ea (bought 2)
Color Bond Clear coat-$12.95 ea (bought 2)

Total-$167.70 (with shipping)

And I forgot to order my rear cab floors! DOH!

Rear Cab Floor Outer-RH-$22.95
Rear Cab Floor Outer-LH-$22.95

Total-$56.15 (w/ shipping)

total running cost for the entire project (including cost of both trucks and MOST parts)-$4417.75

The total is including parts that the PO bought (patch panels, headers, intake, etc etc). I do have MOST of the parts I need to finish the project (paint, interior, and some other misc stuff I still need to get).

Anyways, enough depressing news... I got some work done today though...

During:

After:

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

haha, she's getting great milage right now. i haven't put gas in 'er for about..oh...3-4 months. .

but yeah...i haven't driven it extensive amounts. just home from where the gy's house where it was bought, up and down the road a few times, and around in the field. haha.

i'm *hoping*...HOPING...to be in the high teens. i'd be thrilled with 17. esque.

especially with the low gears, and if i get keep my foot out of it...i can hope. but thats a BIG if. ya know what i mean. lol.

so, sorry to disappoint. nothing of the sort yet. lol. i'm hoping to get some paint layed on this weekend, or early next week if i can get time, bolt it back together, and enjoy.

...once again, a big hope. lol.

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Latest happenings:

PS gearbox, PS pump, PS lines and all hardware bought off a boardmember (THANKS teeitup!)

2 days ago we finally finished most of the cab repair!

I found a needle in a haystack-I bought a NOS input shaft bearing this morning! I couldnt find one anywhere, and one of our racing friends had one-still NIP and everything! I am so happy haha.

Also today I made my first patch panel! It took me a long time to get it to what I want it, but I know it still needs more work. I will have to wait until my dad gets home from work to finish it, but it was a good start...

Proud me

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Just wanted to leave another update... I got the firewall sanded and painted today...

Schedule for this week (hopefully):

Monday-buy a complete clutch, mount brake lines, MC, etc. also, bolt up engine mounts-HOPEFULLY BOLT UP ENGINE

Tuesday-hang fenders (temporary) and possibly pick up my wheels (20" american racing wheels, but I forget the tire size) to see if they rub at all

Rest of the week-who knows?

I cant wait to get the engine and everything bolted up. I'm hoping to hear it start and MAYBE move by friday (depending on if my power steering setup arrives before then... if not I might have to tinker with the manual steering...)

this is an amazing and inspiring build. I am also just 16 and dream about doing something like this every day... no funds to do it though. Keep up the good work though and I can't wait to see the finished product.

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

Thanks for the compliments guys... I am very lucky to have my parents backing on my project, and im lucky that I chose to build this truck because my dad loves old trucks, too.

Thebrown83- Thanks for the compliments. I wish there was something i could do to help you with your build but i'm a little too far. Good luck when you start-I have been dreaming about building an old truck since I was 12 when my dads friend had one and i'm finally getting to build one now. Your day will come soon, i'm sure.

Berencamp- Wow I know! I cant believe the amount of stuff crammed everywhere!

toomanytoyz- Thanks alot. I cant believe how much time/effort I have put into this truck, and I know its going to be well worth it by the time im finished.

I keep running into hiccups tonight-I got my cab mostly bolted down, but I am missing one front bolt. I went to put the tranny in and my speedometer gears are broken out of the tranny. I got the steering column sanded and sprayed, along with my bellhousing. I am also stuck because I dont have V8 engine towers, so I dont know what to do now! I'm kinda frustrated I didnt have all this stuff sorted out before, but live and learn I guess...

Re: My 67' LWB small window project truck

I also forgot to mention that only 2 of the brake lines I picked up today fit... grr!

Got my transmission torn apart to replace the speedo gears and this is what was found:

My new clutch:

painted some stuff:

Mounted some brake parts, too:

Sadly, it doesnt look like I got much done today. With the tranny problem, i dont know what were going to do... 5 speed would be nice, but i dont have the time... Hopefully we can fix this one?
