Re: ebay and pricing ? ? i'm getting rid of everything

Just start everything at 99c. I have found (and others I know) that starting items low can get the bidding frenzy going much better than starting higher.

Re: ebay and pricing ? ? i'm getting rid of everything

Look up what others are selling the same things for, then just make it a couple dollars lower than there price. People like to think they have a good chance at getting a good deal. And yes it is very easy. Tip: Enter as much as you can in the title (67 68 69 70 71 72 chevy chevrolet truck pickup) all words and years possible.

Re: ebay and pricing ? ? i'm getting rid of everything

I agree with Tim, don't price everything just start them at $.99. You'll be surprised at how stuff gets bid up when you do it that way. Remember, you said you want to get rid of it. Don't wory if it doesn't go for much. At least it's gone and you'll have the money in your pocket. If you overprice them you're stuck with something you don't want and have no money to show for it.
The only time I wouldn't price something at $.99 is when it's an item that just doesn't sell very fast. The only way to figure it out is to do a little research and see if anyone else is selling similar stuff and track it in My ebay. I bought an "as is" 67-72 radio from a junk yard for $10. It turned out to be broken. Since broken radios don't sell well I priced it at $10 just to get my money out of it and sold it. On the other hand, I had a used Edelbrock Performer intake. They sell like hot cakes and having started it at $.99 it sold for $67 even though it had stripped out threads (which were repaired and plugged) on the heater hose port.

However, timing is everything. Don't start and end the sale on Thursday at 8:00 in the morning when everyone is broke and off to work trying to get enough money to earn a paycheck Friday. Most guys see the stuff that is ending soonest and they shop when they have money in their pockets. Therefore, you want to catch them some time after 5:00 Friday but before they spend it all the next week.

A lot of folks ebay on the weekends. I have found that my best auctions end around 9:00 PM CST on a Sunday, Monday or even Tuesday. That way it's close enough to the top of the list, over the weekend, to catch any lookers and get them on the hook. By ending at 9:00 CST everyone has time to get home from work (in all 4 time zones) and let the bidding frenzy begin. Your best bidders love to snipe at the last second and drive the price up, you just have to make sure they are home where they have the opportunity to do it.

To pay for all the autions that you will have to sell everything, You could pay $25.00 here and put evrything for sale here! SOunds like you have some parts people here need. Also you can ask what you want for stuff here and if it is too high, you can ask for an offer.(but you must post price first). You may sell everything here and help out some fellow board members in the process. If it doesnt sell then try Ebay!

Re: ebay and pricing ? ? i'm getting rid of everything

B-4 selling anything !! figure out how are you going to ship these things. i've found big items aren't worth the trouble// i'll always have the items boxed and ready to go B-4 the auction ends so at the end of the auction all i have to do is attach the label and it's ready to ship

for smaller items the post office will give you free shipping supplies stickers boxes labels thru thier web site thier flatrate boxes make things real easy as you don't have to wheigh things

if you're looking ar items like seats fenders gastanks radiators you should really try selling local maybe the pennysaver thrifty nickle or other local papers and local swapmeets are alot of fun to do

Re: ebay and pricing ? ? i'm getting rid of everything

If it's stuff I don't need, I put it at a buck or something. The nice thing about posting for a $1 is your listing fee is next to nothing.

Right now I have a bunch of stuff that's been in the garage for a while and I just want it gone. So I posted mst of it for $10 + shipping and if it goes for more than that, even better. Either way it's out of my garage.

The best way is to look at the COMPLETED auctions for items like yours. People can ask how much they want all day long, but I'm interested in what they actually sold for

You can also judge shipping prices by other auctions, but the best way is package your item and take it to the shipper (or use the online estimators) and see how much it would be to ship it to the farthest US shore from you and go from there.

On expensive items, use a reserve price.
Don't set your starting bid too high.
Be VERY clear in the auction body, condition, pictures, how you will ship, how much you will charge for shipping, what payments you will/will not accept, will you accept returns or are items sold AS IS...

Good Luck!
