Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

I haven't driven the truck all week so I went for a spin and stopped to talk to a tire shop down the street.

Hi, pull the gauge cluster out of the dash and trace the metal tracks from were the plug plugs in and see if the the track is broke or undo the plug and attachments (litebulbs etc..)to remove plastic circuit board from gauge cluster then with the plastic circuit on flat bench use ohm meter from plug to were it connects to (lites etc...) or on a flat bench use a peice of wire from a 12 volt sorce and touch were plug go's and a test lite at the other side (were gauges or lights connect) to see if the board is good

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

you got a 454tbi , 400turbo , and 4.10 rear end gears? if so then if you lower it and put 225/60/16's on you really are not going to be able to get on the freeway. my rpm shot up to 3000rpm at 52mph

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

Thanks for heads up, I've got a bunch of extra wires that aren't going to anything both under the dash and in the engine bay.

Hope to take it to the tint shop sometime soon, I got a illegal ticket violation a couple weeks ago in my 07 single cab. Ks law is 25% I believe mine are 15%. I like the idea of limo 5% tint on the back window.

I've got a set of bubr mirrors that will eventually make it on the truck.

The more I work on the truck I realize previous owner have changed or thrown things together. At least I know the engine runs good Its 454 with aluminum edelbrock intake and holley 650 carb TH400 tranny rpm's do jump on highway but it flat out moves.

Sleeper Cab is still for sale!!!!

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

So true, i noticed that at some point my truck was a cream yellow color. I wish I knew the history of when it painted and converted from 74 clip to 81.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

Yes the wing itself is approx 24inches Wide x 55in Long x 8in T its adjustable so that you can angle it to you liking so those would be the box measurements for shipping otherwise as it sits on the shell currently it 20in tall

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

Todays accomplishment...took the sleeper cab out of the bed and dismantled the wing. Then went to the tint shop, only got the back window done for now will be switching out doors for power from a suburban.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

He first cleans the window then puts the tint on the outside cuts it to fit then applies it to the inside of the glass. This insures that it is a true fit. They are a small shop but have been in business for a long time. Someday I will get some audio in there but just tint today heres the final product. ($40 later)....
