But I'll take the Chevy over the ugly Dodge. Mopar propaganda.

They missed the part, off camera at the end of the ad shoot, where the guy with the cowboy hat leaves the parking lot driving the chevy home.

Re: You Really Should Reconsider

The Chevy has long legs on the tailgate, so, Chevy. Now I see them on the Dodge.

Have only owned two Dodge. One a 75 Dart. Cheap car, simple, but the 318 had a lot of carbon build up. Sounded like a jet warming up and took forever to do so. Supposedly a 318 is awesome..............Other was "soccer mom's" mini-van, perhaps an 99. At 50K the tranny & A/C compressor failed, what a piece of junk. That said, I do like those 71 Dodge vans. Can't speak for mechanics, but at a glance they're superior Chevy. There, I said it. I do like Mopar, and would take a few over our trucks.

Very cool video K

No kidding, first rate. The beautiful blonde's legs near the end of the video nice as well. Real entertaining video, legs icing on the cake.

The Cheyenne 'Super' option only appeared in 1972.
For 1971 the Cheyenne was tops.

On the GMC side...

Re: You Really Should Reconsider

Definitely a cutie! She may be in her 70's now?

Neat video. I can't imagine why GM sold so many C10's now?

They did make some great points about the vans.

I don't think I've EVER seen a Adventurer SE. Seen quite a few Cheyennes though...

Re: You Really Should Reconsider

1st year for Cheyenne Super was 71. I used to have one!
Only noticeable differences between a 71 and 72 were the tailgate handle, door panels, and the gb door emblem - and if you had a Custom Camper in 71, it replaced the Cheyenne Super fender badges (not the case in 72)

Re: You Really Should Reconsider

The LOOKS of the Dodge and Chevy vans are equal in my opinion but the Chevy trucks look SO much better than the Dodge trucks. Now Blonde or Brunette, I think that's a toss up

NO KIDDING......Didn't know that. Edit, Jocko says 1971, so we have a debate.......According to Wiki, "late 1971 to 72"...................

Well, stops at Cheyenne anyway, "buy the Adventurer instead". Have to say it's a nice looking truck. Can't speak for quality.

Sure great legs . No such thing as a better pair. Course in a Chevy bed helps.

Edit, yeah those Adventurer SE trucks were so cool, try to find one like the video on full display. I looked for a bit and came up empty, though I did find this pic. Cool truck, but for too many reasons they're short a Chevy. Picture is too large. Here's a link. http://allamericanclassic.tumblr.com...edition-pickup

Edit x2, cough, probably shouldn't show this.....ha!.........This is a bad *&%*% truck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ait5GYvxaYI

Re: You Really Should Reconsider

Cheyenne Super option came along later in '71...not all year option. I guess after they saw this ad they had to run out and come up with a counter model to the SE nobody ordered. Notice they reference all trucks of this era as "glamour trucks". Someone picked up on that and tried to pin it on Chevys in a book, but it was never a term used by Chevy. Chevy, among other things, called them The New Breed, then The Movers, and probably other slogans for the sake of marketing. So they put a Dodge side by side with the Chevy to show it has better styling? Big FAIL!! Hey, I think the Dodges are cool. Very truck looking for some reason. Maybe because they are trucks! The thing with Dodges of this hot truck era was the Ford and Chevys got new styling in '67 and the Dodges were still working with the '61 design. So not in the same era with styling, as a minus to those who need current trends. But the plus is, as a truck, they are built to tougher standards from the prior era. Much more steel, less plastic, and less general bean-counter cut-cornering. They still had a solid beam/leaf spring front end. That is solid heavy duty truck all the way, but even back then comfort was creeping in on market demands.

Yeah, I believe that was my recollection as well...a late year introduction in '71 and this kind of promo stuff usually rolls out early in the year, or late in the previous year ('70) ready for the '71 sales cycle.
I think the same was true of the 'tilt wheel' option showing up prior to 1971? (1970?)....with it too, showing up late the previous year.

All good

I watched that video a few months ago.

I think I might have gotten young Erma smith pregnant just watching the video. Didn't even notice a van or truck in the whole video

Those dodges sure didnt fair well around here as you really don't see too many of them at all.

Weird right? I don't mean the pregnancy, but no sign of Dodge. Not many Fords either. Tell you what though, that 70 Dodge in the video I posted is super duper. Shame I'll never build one. Learning how to build a Chevy is already a bit much sometimes, to be honest (frame off). Sure is rewarding though. Keeps the cranium moving.

I did a frame-off on a '69 Dodge in '79. It replaced the cab due to rust. I had a hard time getting factory parts even at that young age. That's when I went with GM trucks. I'd like to do another one now tht they are just old toys to tinker with
