wheels & tires for 55, 56, 57, 58, 59 truck

Gentlemen and Ladies, I've scoured this forum looking for ideas for wheels & tires for my 1956 truck and cannot locate any thread posted. SO, that being said, can you post pictures for wheels and the tires you are running on your 55,56,57,58,59 truck?? I'm considering to stay with the 15" wheels front and rear so can you list the tire sizes if you know them? thanks
Morrie

Not sure what these are the center cap says Ultra, they came with it and I'm going to leave them but if I had my choice I think old school American Mags look period correct like on the green 55', gray spokes would be better. it is not mine. Your moons look good too

Are you looking for ideas on 5 or 6 lug wheels? Seems there is less choice on the 6 lug option.

Your truck looks awesome, can you tell us how much drop the front and rear have, and how it was done? Thanks.

Hi Hover Thanks for the complement ! My truck has a Fat man Mll front end, and on the rear 9 in Ford. No axle flip but a few leaves removed from springs, and about 1/2 in cut off axle bumper stops. I think it rides decent fairly smooth.

Does the Fatman ll have standard or 2" drop spindles? I nave a Mll also but with standard spindles...not sure who made it, but looks like maybe a TCI. I'm thinking of buying the drop spindles, maybe from Heidts or someone. Not sure if they would work.

Another question, how many leaves are remaining in the rear? Mine originally had 8 per side, I have 5 left, but might take another one out. The ride is good but might want be a tad lower, especially if I drop the front another 2" with those spindles.

Kind of fuzzy pics but chrome smoothies with Diamondback wide whites. Not sure yet whether I will use bullet centers or shannon cones.

To the OP, I like what you have already except I'd put era correct '55-'56 small caps on them and if it really were mine I'd paint the rims a contrasting color, not black.

Hello 55cruiser, sorry for not getting back to you, but I've been under the weather as it's called. I like your chrome reverse and the front tire clearance you have is great. What do you have for a front suspension?? Any dropped spindles by chance?? looks great.

Hey Hover, I've been thinking of painting my rims red, now I have an idea how they would look. Also, I have 4 leafs on each rear side, for your comparison.

We need a photoshop guy on here to help us with this stuff. I think red might be ok on yours, it comes down to personal preference. I had a guy tell me how stupid my red wheels look lol. It got me thinking about white walls. Would like to drop the front a couple inches, but not sure if spindle brand is important.

it would be great if we could use our truck and swap out wheels and tires. if you wanted to, cut a coil, that generally reduces height about 1.5". If that's a choice you'd make. When the "person" that said your red wheels looked stupid, did you happen to BUMP into him a bit?? what a jerk!!!

Naw, I just laughed when he said it. Ya know some people should just shut up if they don't have anything good to say. I see it car shows all the time. No need to point out the flaws. Never once thought of cutting a coil, see thats why I come here, smart guys like you with good advice. lol. The front springs are pretty stiff now, so not sure how much I could cut off without making it too stiff. 1-1/2 to 2" drop would be all I would want. Thanks for the idea!

Looks good, your front wheels seem to tuck up into the fender more than mine do. That's the look I like.

Stock wheels with reproduction AD hubcaps, without the logo painted, and 59 trim rings. Wheels were sandblasted and powder coated black.

Hubcaps snapped right on, no modification required.

If you choose to cut a coil, measure staight down from the very end of the coil and mark it, thats where you want to cut. Always best to take a little at a time. good luch.
