My truck and camper

My wife and I found a 1961 Nomad camper in nice condition and decided to paint it like the truck with matching decals.

Re: My truck and camper

I had to take the roof vent off to get it in the shop. But now it will stay outside, definitely going to cover it for winter!

Re: My truck and camper

Nice truck and camper. I like the what looks like rally wheels on the truck. Is it 1/2 ton? I've got a 3/4 ton with 8 lug bolts so can't use the rallys. I wish I could; really like the look.

Very nice! Reminds me of the 16 ft. camper my parents bought and took out West behind my Suburban... 'til the engine blew in Dodge City, after which it was towed behind an E-350 U-haul box van for the remainder of the trip...

Don't you just love it when people want to get a picture of your combo at a gas station or restaurant? Looks great together.

Look cool together! Does that trailer ever drag bottom? Seems awfully low.

Re: My truck and camper

The pickups and trailers look great, and I wish I had a trailer.
But I do have a 1958 Alaskan Camper to go with the Longhorn.

If I find one, I will empty the interior and do something oddball with it. No clue what that will be or if I find one.

Smile Re: My truck and camper

..love those campers and trailers....great to see everyone's good taste runs well beyond the trucks alone!
Here is our little trailer and my '72.
The trailer is around a 1970 model but I painted and detailed it a bit to present as a little older in appearance.....definitely not as cool looking tho' as the vintage 'canned hams'...which are hard to beat!
It was a pretty clean unit when we got it and my wife redid all the cushions and curtains inside.
As usual, I added a bunch more stuff to it...like extra light fixtures, an electric water pump as well as updating the battery/electrical system.
Its about 14' lg I think...so its not too heavy and not that big a deal for the truck to pull it and it does have its own brakes which tie into the trucks trailer braking system...just in case.

whats great about these campers and trailers is that you can customize the heck out of them to suit your own tastes and preferences. You are essentially just renovating one relatively small room...so you really go to town on what you would like in there in terms of decor, lights, sound system stuff, vintage stuff....or if you are a quality cook/chef...then customize the kitchen element so you are super set when you go camping.
I'd like to add some older period correct vintage chrome to the sides...just to 'set it off' a bit, but I haven't gotten there yet.

If I was to get another one or different one...I would probably go about 1-2 ft bigger so the back bed/bunk was bigger I think. the rest of it is great tho'.

all good
Coley

This trailer isn't a camper, but I love pulling it with my truck. It was also built in 1972

Re: My truck and camper

Vintage trailer supply has some retro chrome caps that will make your Nomad camper pop. They fit great and are very reasonable too.
