Sold stepside, bought parts for other hobby

I took the money and threw it all plus a bunch more at this thing. This is my 3rd build from scratch but this one is a major learning experience. I still need to get more stuff to fine tune it. The main thing is a brake but they are not easy to find with 3/4-24 threads with a .501 bore. That's right, it's a 50 Boewulf. The biggest, baddest AR you can possibly have.

I took it to the range Saturday morning and everyone there smiled. One guy asked if it was a cannon. Well, sort of. it shoves big, fat slugs at 1900 fps. I can't wait to see what it does to Bambi. A friend in western NY uses his and every deer is dead before they hit the ground.

I went through 50 rounds and my shoulder was hurting afterwards. This from a guy who likes a 7 Rem Mag. Afterwards I settled down by running 20 rounds through my Springfield 1903.

Now I need to find a less expensive way to feed their monster. At 68 cents per bullet it's not a plinking gun by any means.

I won't discuss th stickers in order to keep on the good side of Liz, but I suspect you know

Cool. It looks like a nice build. Do you have any machinist friends?

I'm surprised the ammo isn't more expensive. I'm paying 57 cents per round to feed my M1A, and that's buying in lots of 500.

I did the 80% lower myself, no serial number on this one.

No, I mean each bullet is 68 cents, not loaded round. I load all my own for every gun I have except the rimfires. I'm using Starline brass since their quality is far superior. Other guys have gone more than 15 loads on each piece with no problems or even a sign of issue

.50 Beowulf has been adopted by a few police departments in order to crack engine blocks.

I would like to have a .458 SOCOM upper if I ever decided to hunt black bear with something other than my Honda Accord.

Congrats on your build. I am about to buy a .44 Magnum back from a friend I sold it to years ago to fund my (then) addiction to skydiving.

Re: Sold stepside, bought parts for other hobby

I woke up at 3:31 yesterday with a scary/happy dream. Wife, son and I were visiting brother in Wisconsin and a big mean rabid bear was running right at us. My brother, his wife, and my wife were all shooting at the bear. I grabbed "Snowflake" from my car and shot the bear in the head from 30 yards. His head exploded and was gone

I've had a similar dream, except the weapon was an M2 and the bear was an insurgent...
