Re: 47-54 4 link

Looks ok but it seems to be priced a little high when compared to other kits.

I like the fact that it will not sit below the running broads!

I would make sure it's DOM tubing.

Looks decent but personally, I'm not a big fan of that type of track locater on anything but a drag car. I prefer panhard bar for the street.

For just a little more money you can get this kit from Heidts. Looks like it includes the coil overs plus mount and a panhard bar.

I don't think the heidts kit includes coil overs or the pan hard bar, its just a base package. TCI has one that is all inclusive for $987 and its a bolt on kit

We have it here http://www.hollisterroad.com/item/10...?category=5103.

They also have a bagged version for $1325

Yep, I didn't read the print....

1947-1953 Chevy Pick-Up Rear 4-Link, (includes bars, brackets, coil-over crossmember). Coil-over 4-Link rear suspension provides the best ride for any classic truck. These kits attach directly to the stock frame rails. The adjustable axle brackets let you set ride height in one of three positions. A bolt-in upper crossmember for coil-overs is included.

These are really nice units. There was one already on my truck when I bought it.

What are the problems with running that type of track bar on the street?

Re: 47-54 4 link

Too me, the length and angle of the locator bar are not conducive to stability where cornering loads are considered. I'm no engineer but the bar is never in compression or extension like a panhard is, but in a combination of those and shear due to the angle. It seems that under higher loads, the bar would have more of a tendency to bend and possibly break(shear) even though it is a triangulated member. I'm also sure there are lots of other opinions and if the truck is never loaded or driven hard, it may never be a problem. I used a Morrison 4 link and it came with a panhard bar. I wanted their triangulated 4 link but they said the frame rails on my 55 were to close together for solid triangulation and would only sell me the panhard. I took what they said to heart.
